Comments: Hello my name is Kevin Knoke and I am doing some research on the 1st Minnesota Volunteer Regiment. I was transcribing a letter written during the time of the Ball's Bluff battle and I found something you might find interesting. In a letter from Henry W. indgreen of the 1st MN dated Nov 12, 1861 I found the following passage. "soon we came to a Lane and down it we started for another piece of woods, had gone about quarter of a mile when I suddenly came upon the dead body of a man, examined him, found hi canteen marked S.J. Strong. 13th Mississippi Regiment took it and his haversack, which Kendall (friend in Lindergreen's company) has now, there was a ball hole straight through his head the work of some sharp-shooter the day before, poor fellow, but he h d no business to be there..."
