The Pack 855’er
We had an extremely successful Scout night. We added over 20 boys to our pack that night and have added several more since then. Great job! As a result, all of our dens are rather large so don’t be afraid to help the leaders out.
Please welcome our new leaders this year! Cheryl Flores and Doug Putnam are our new Tiger Leaders. We're glad to have them aboard!

We had a fun and busy summer here at ol' Pack 855. The picnic, swim party, Rodeo Get-Together, and the Annual Bowl-A-Rama were a blast and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves! I know I did.

And now on to Den News …
The Flaming Dragons have picked up where they left off in May by kicking up sawdust and making nails fly this past month. They have been finishing up their birdhouses they made towards their Craftsmen pin. They also were noisily punching leather out for the key chains and necklaces they're making for Craftsman.
The boys also learned all about rocks, fossils, and geology for the Geologists Pin. They topped this off with a weekend field trip to the Dallas Museum of Natural History to learn all about caving, rockclimbing (courtesy of the Dallas and Ft. Worth Grotto and Mark Alman) and to observe the fantastic dinosaur skeletons and displays they had. While there, the boys also helped the younger visitors make their own compasses and learn about other outdoor activities.
"I can do this with one hand tied behind may back
(or broken!)." Tyler Davis at the Pack 855 Bowl-A-Rama in August.

The "Timber Wolves" formerly known as the Bengal Tigers want everyone to know that it is great to be back for another year with the Cub Scouts! As of our Tuesday meeting, we have 12 active boys. Den Leader Brenda Young want to thank all the parents for allowing their boy to be a part of the wonderful world of scouting.
"Who's having fun?!" Pack 855 Vanston Pool Party in July.
We started this year off with a bang! Besides working toward and achieving their Bobcat badges, we started on the 6 piece
patterned wooden birdhouses. Once they have completed the birdhouses, we are going to go on our first camp out( another great
challenge for the novices). The Department of Transportation Parks Department is going to let us put the birdhouses up in the State Parks for the birds and everyone to see and admire.

Those wild and wacky Tiger Frogs headed up by Cheryl Flores have got out a roaring , or should I say, "Ribet-ing" start by starting scrapbooks and making namebadge necklaces. They also made family trees and albums for the "Know Your Family" Patch and the "Getting To Know You" Patch. They also were busy this past week getting ready for the Silent Cake Auction tonight.
