A Letter I Sent

Since the inception of this site, it has received little in the way of criticism. I guess, for the most part, the people who hate it keep their opinion(s) to themselves. I did, however, get a review from Fierce.com that was less then complimentary. Someone signing the guestbook told me about it and I was tingling with anticipation when I went to look at the review.

Once I read it, though, I was disappointed. I was looking for some good advice but left unfulfilled. It wasn't a critique of my site but a Cool Site of the Day bashing ceremony. They denounced a few points about me without an ounce of validation. It seems that they are upset because they don't have the reputation of CSOTD and think they should.

In all seriousness, their critique wasn't intended to be taken too literally and I didn't interpret it as such. All the same,I couldn't let their absurd review go without notice. I composed the following e-mail and sent it along. It's been months and I've yet to hear back from them:

Someone in your entourage recently reviewed my site. Perhaps you will remember the name "The Jennifer Realm" listed during the week of April 13-18. It appears as though he found the site through CSOTD (Cool Site of the Day) and saw fit to criticize CSOTD and my site fell by the wayside into your "Not Quite" category.

As I was reading his derogatory review, I found myself laughing hysterically. No... not at any genius comedic skills on his part, but at the absurdity of his unfounded comments.

For instance, he said something of how he thought this was a site about all Jennifers. It's not. If he'd bothered to look at the site before his reproach, he would have realized this. Instead, he undoubtedly saw the words "Jen Trivia" and without reading the section, assumed that it was trivia about the name. A hasty and altogether erroneous judgement.

Another thing he criticized was my "Question of the Month" - stating that I was asking 2 questions, not one. This I found most droll. If you are going to denounce my site, find something more valid than a meaningless technicality.

His final comments revolved around suggesting that I improve the site by adding a collage of nude pictures. He even went so far as to create one, presumably for his own amusement. I'm sure he found the nude body (upon which my head was pasted) in his vast collection of nude images. Now we know how he spends his free time. I must commend him on his choice, however, as he was very generous with the proportions.

When I heard of my listing in your site, I was hoping for some helpful tips - an effective critique. Instead, I got nothing but trite suggestions for catering my site to young, small-minded men who use the web for nothing other than the onslaught of nude images and an occasional game. Exactly the kind of people I'm trying to avoid.

What a disappointment. If he ever bothers to actually review the site, let me know. Meanwhile, I'll maintain the status quo and take his remarks as I do most things, with several grains of salt.
