I know this is very late but today I went Jurong from hall and the whole bloody place is a mess under some repairs hope you guys dun mind it's too late to change the venue anyway. Xinyan I can't imagine you in TKD what a devious evil scheme to stay in hal ....school is getting better as I know more people. Xinyan you got no faith in me to mix around with the ah beng types meh...say until like that "not to late to transfer". In army we get in contact with all sorts...esp in unit. I've got no problems with b ngs what actually i don't mind bengs they're straight-forward people usually. I'm in ODAC ( sleeping member as of now ) bridge rotoract nad Nanyang Chronicle ( the newpaper ). But I've gotta admit school so far is quite xian w/o all my old friends...good o see a familiar face like you around.

Yes, I'm FINALLY back in the conversations. IT's been eons since I've written and I just feel this urge to type tonnes of stuff in here again. (And win the award for the "Most Lor Sor Entry" again) =)
After I finally got the URL fo the noline Conv (thanks to quite a lot of people), There was some prob with my modem and I jsut couldnt' acess this page. When I finally could, I somehow couldn't get to the "add entry" page. Dunno why... and then things sta ted cropping up and I just forgot.
I'm kinda looking forward to seeing everybody on Saturday (ie tomorrow) jason told me that 25 people will be coming. Is that true? If it is, that means that we'reall there in full force cause HQ and Suzhen aren't around. Is Chirs coming? Quite amazing if hat's realy the case.
Hmm.. I'll be pretty much gone from 3rd August onwards. OBS starts then and ends on 23rd August. ANd then I fly on the 24th and reach COrnell on the 25th. And Lessons start on the 25th. *groan*
This "holiday" has been way too short. (not counting the time when I was in California, of course) I've hardly seen anyone. Only the ODAC people and even then, not everybody. But I guess that'll be Ok if everyone turns up for Op Nos. Everytime I think of sking people to come out, I think of the money I'll spend and then I think -- better not *sigh* I'm such a troublesome creature, am i not? =P
I was thinking -- I remembered the tape that we made at the mini party at Jeremy's new place before I left for Cornell last year. The one that you guys (used in an asexual manner. Males and females are included alike) gave to me? Well I was thinking hat maybe we could do that tomorrow too? I konw this is kinda late I don't even kow if anyone is going to read this before going out tomorrow. we could do this every year, in fact. We need someone;s stereo, of course. And a mike. I can bring a tape. Well. . if anyone reads this, maybe it coudl work. And then ten or twenty years down the road, we could pull out all the tapes and listen to them all over again and laugh over them. Well.. just a thought...

My parting entry.... Dear friends, tonite I embark on my 3rd overseas Military Exercise, this time for the longest period of time ever... close to a month in Taiwan. Hello everybody! Long time no see. Just finished my Sports Camp and I'm as dark as charcoal now. Heh... can ask Xinyan. I happened to meet her at Jurong point with Carol yesterday. Compare the color contrast between XY and me man! Oh yeah... Carol came fo Sports Camp too and can see that she really enjoyed it, just that her lips are a bit swollen now. Heard about Ops Nost too. Yeah! I'm on for it! Just that I'll be having Sports Ball the night before and hopefully I don't get drunk and have a hangover the next day. Jason, I haven't received my Nepal mag. Can you bring it during Ops Nost? As for the souvenir thingy... I was thinking maybe we can have photo frames. I know IKEA sells 3 for $2. There are 27 of us, so $18 altogether. Quite affordable. We can de orate it with puffer ink and have our names on it. The thing is that the most sentimental part of this will be the photo. Perhaps we can give out the photo frames first and send the photos we take during Ops Nost to everyone after that. So what do you all think? And the gift exchange how? Will be checking online conv for more updates!

I had a great time definitely, and like marvin, (i suppose josh too..)i suffered from the after-effects at the NDP rehearsal...Was feeling very drowsy and lightheaded and my arms felt so heavy...i was so much slower in my drills and just looking forward t the breaks to catch some shut-eye..But it was worth it now i tink, haven't really cheonged a weekend to its fullest for quite awhile...got some inane sense of satisfaction from it..hehe...

One lesson we all learned is that maybe singing just doesn't work out with batch 12..save for some time-honoured anthems like emil chau songs and the odac song, we really seemed to resemble some radio station, dishing out songs of different frequencies... nd not really listening to each other at all...but i suppose that we managed to find at least a few singing companions who "belonged to the same freq.."

Yeah, somehow without TVs, computers and furniture, we do pretty well with some rudimentory tools of entertainment like cards and mahjong...i especially liked the hands game and of course..."wink, wink-you're dead." MURDERER!!!Mebbe it's coz i was the pre ium victim or i tot i was a good killer...hehe..

I want to apologise tho, firstly for standing the airport party up..then later the bbq by wandering ard JEC aimlessly and throughout most of the nite, i must have been some kinda bland sourpuss,a total prick perhaps...sorrie..partly it was coz i'm not a c rds and mahjong person( i can't play the game!!), but also coz i'd slept at 5am the day b4 after some partying and was totally zonked out on sat....real sorrie guys... :(.glad i managed to perk up later in the nite...

natalie portman's very beautiful, but i'm better off chasing aome local gal...she'd be qie'd silly over in the US, and besides, i dun tink i can even go there...hehe...

it was great, to mention again, and I'll be defintitely looking forward to seeing more pple on Op Nos proper...take care pple...

All in all, I got to meet Penny, Suzhen, Xinyan, Theresa, Wenyi, Joshua, Jeremy, Chunda, Jason, Duwen, Songhai, Alvin, Alan, Marvin and Haoyang[Total=15!] Feel lous about having to miss the actual Ops Nos but... there's nothing I can do. The house did seem a little small to me, but almost perfect for the occasion. Although there was no TV and no electronic equipment/entertainment of any sort, we still managed to kee each other entertained for a good long while. AND... I haven't laughed so much in a long time, wonder if all those who were there feel the same [...or mebbe it's just bcos the army doesn't give the guys much to laugh about] Of course, I wish more could h ve been there, but doncha worry, as long as you MAKE IT for the ACTUAL OPS NOS... make sure you guys take loads of pics okay? if can record sth on vid lagi better, sth short out Ops Nos 1999. mebbe we should do skits just to entertain ourselves...?nah. Ha e fun, should be bashing my way thru the jungles of ROC about tt time. P.S. Mama! You still got my cheena compilation CD, while I got your Belinda-wats-her-name CD!!

Hi guys. i just wanted to say, with the last-minuteness of it all, thanks for responding, paging/calling people blue in the face, meeting to get food, lugging skewers, grills and mahjong sets pan-island, marinating the chicken, trying to start the fire an rushing to get proper coal, cleaning up after the messy ones, or coming down just to eat a coupla burnt chicken wings and honour hq's sleeping bag with one mahjong game and then having to go. Well...before you hurl abuses at me, hear me out! I'm really really really really sorrie I didn't make it for the big reunion. Yes I did promise that I would go. I had visitors and I didn't expect them to stay til about 10pm. And I was dead beat by then. What made it worse was that I had driving lessons at 10.30am the next morning at Kg Ubi.
If I were to rush down to Jurong last night after some preparation I would have reached there at 12 midnight++. Can't take a cab cos I'm all alone in Singapore now (my family's in UK) and I'm short of cash, almost out of it already.
All these and my tiredness made me decide to stay home and rest....and trust me I felt really bad, even now I am. Hope Penny and Jason got my page. Anyway seems to me that you all had lots of real fun. And welcome back, Siwei!
Once again...I'm very sorrie and I feel very left out...isn't a nice feeling. So, I give my word that I must by hook or by crook make it down for Op Nos!

I couldn't go coz i was totally concussed after our 24 hour "trial Rag Rush" to simulate the final day of rag which we are not supposed to sleep for more than 24 hours...dunno how I managed to stay awake for the 24 hours only knocking out for a few minutes while poking wires thru metal.. the guys were complaining that it was worse than army... coz in army they never had to stay awake for more than 24 hours and they never had pple who suddenly decided they wanted to o climb on top of water tanks in the middle of the night...

Just got back from the barbecue-reunion-stay-over thingy. Fun, fun, fun! Somehow when u're with fun people even seemingly stupid games become very enjoyable (murderer, duh! hehehe, and the 'hands' game), pity the singing fell apart, rather funny tho' tt w were all trying to sing our own things, hehee.

suzhen, penny and siwei look healthier than ever before, while i look like darth vader with the mask off compared to them. haoyang is having a craze over Natalie Portman, which may spur him on to do well enough for either Yale or Harvard, perhaps (good lu k!).

the rest of us were all our charming selves, with theresa giggling half the time, Wen wisecracking, sometimes at my expense (i should have threatened him with my skewers), songhai cracking people up with his deadpan humour, duwen, marvin, jason, chunda, s nghai, and dunno which idiots being cheena and singing andy lau's zhong guo ren in their deepest, loudest, hokkien ah bengs imitation (note:imitation) voices. :O)

suzhen did a solo bit and i was very impressed (as contrasted to the above), josh and jeremy tried to play the guitar, but couldn't beat theresa, hehehe, alvin came for awhile but then abandoned us for his hot date. alan and penny tried to polish up their ah soh skills by playing mahjong ("i'm trying to play until i get the game right" alan sez, while penny was just hooked on the game, and she played right until she slept right next to the mahjong place). and me, me, i was just being simply charming.

warning to those who didn't go to the barbecue, don't ever buy charcoal tt look like bricks with lots of holes in them....they dun work...i think they sell them in NTUCs....

Okay this is the finalised timings. Sorry for the changes. There are going to be 2 groups tomorrow morning, one the Food Group and one the Picking-Siwei-Up group. Food is meeting at 12.30pm at Jurong East Station Control. Call Jeremy at 96786940. The Pick ng-Up Group is meeting at 10.30am at the airport. We will all meet at 1.30pm outside the NTUC next to JEC, after Food has gotten food. Whoever cannnot make it earlier can meet together then. Then we all proceed to wenyi's place. Like I always enjoy telling everyone, the last time I went fishing, I caught 7 fish! Itsy bitsy (not yellow polka dotted) fish good only for bait, but fish just the same. And in just 15 minutes too! Anyway about fishing, I don't know WHERE you intend to fish, but well since my dad's business is selling these fishing stuff ( what providence, again ) and I have like AT LEAST 20 X fishing rods at home doing nothing. Although fishing is monumentally boring if you ask me. When you catch a fish it's bad enough waiting in between, but it's much worse when there's no in between to speak of - you just sit until your butt aches. Darth Vader HAD a voice ( Mustafa's voice - father of the Lion in Lion King, very distinctive) and a face ( white and pasty ) and a personality ( bad ) in the original Star Wars too! Actually I would say more of a personality than in TPM, where he's a kid. Period. I kinda liked him better as Darth Vader. Darth Maul is pratically a camoe role , what, five lines???? The story and esp the Jedi remind me of wu xia stories. Anyway, there's a BBQ pit at the foot of my block, wow, what providence. So I presume I'll be going down to the place to book it and clean it (Theresa has kindly volunteered to help). You guys will havta bring sleeping bags and pratically anything else you want to eat/drink/use. Could also bring swimwear tho the pool is so small if we all get in,the water will all get out. What else...got parking for vehicles...also lights/air-con/really small fridge/water and electricity/working toilets /parts of a computer/not much else.

Btw just a quick thought after going to see my new place for the first time - mebbe if we can't get a chalet we could go there - near JEC, reasonably convenient, lots of stuff there ( at JEC ) , no-one living in it and no furniture at all. As well as no l ghts. Erm....mebbe this idea needs work. Anyway, it's a 4 room exec ( govt. ) condo at a place called Westmere. Mebbe we could get sleeping bags and torches and camp out there :)

I watched it too, on the same night, but caught the earlier 7.30 show at GV Marina. Same sentiments, too much hype was stirred up. It's another episode of the Star Wars epic to me, nothing too spectacular, nothing too impressive. In fact, for a person who didn't follow with Star Wars in the 70s and 80s, I thought Episode 3 and 4 are much better in terms of creativity and storyline and stuffs. Episode 1 only beat em in effects.
Actually, don't you think some matters conclude too simply and abruptly? Like the death of Qui Gon Jin, death of Darth Maul, destruction of the Federation's ships and droids, etc etc? Only way they made up for that was quantity, so as not to cause the show to be too dull.
But anyway, me ain't no Star Wars fan, but will be following up with episodes 2 and 3, that is if judgement day doesn't come this July...(hehheh there I go again).
About GTO, HY I got that series on VCD quite long ago, my sis bought it. Yep it's entertaining but a little far-fetched lar. But nice to watch for the KAWAII chicks like Chunda puts it, heh.
Jason ar, I dun think a momento for Op Nos is necessary...cos it's a lot of trouble I think. But if you don't mind the trouble, then by all means go ahead!

I have done the deed....watched The Phantom Menace tonite....that's one new year resolution accomplished....it was a pretty good movie..definitely worth my $7, but it din live up to the hype i tink...too much hype generated...really geared me up for a ver very big bang kind of expectation, but i still liked the movie...coz i'm a sucker for lightsabers( i couldn't get one when i was a kid... :( ) space battles...lasers...robots and a new addiction i might add...Natalie Portman...Princess Leia in the old St r Wars movies....she's nothing compared to this most beautiful ingenue...if anyone has also watched "The Professional", yes..the little girl was Natalie Portman in her very early teens...anyway...The Phantom Menance is a movie that will appreciate with ag ...all the aggressive marketing may have skyrocketed expectations, leaving some a lil disappointed, but the story as told is forever timeless, and held so dear by all star wars fans...i'll definitely catch episodes 2 and 3....years from now...

Ok ok... so I watched it at 2135... With SH, Jason, Xf and HY... Star Wars aint's what it used to be... 2 things.. The racial thing is really prominent. Second, the space battles in this one is really NOT there, but well, at least the lightsaber fights ha e some spectacular martial arts in them compared to the poor version of kendo that they have from Episode 4 onwards. Its worth a 2nd watch for me, and definitely worth a watch for you.

BIG WALK was a big flop! Nope I'm not referring to the turnout, am referring to the wet weather. We walked nought of the 10km, instead had a nice bowling session at Leisurepark and had 4 goody packs each to bring home! Much to the envy of others looking at us.
Frankly speaking I'm a little disappointed at the turnout of 4 out of 16, not because of those "Vice-Chairman" sentiments, but because I really wanted to see more of you people, tot today would be a good chance. It's been a while since I met up with u all. But at least I got to see Alan and Duwen today, not too bad actually. We had fun lar.
I think it's an expectable thing that our attitude towards going out is dwindling. I mean, it's natural. I am actually quite satisfied that most of us can last this long, and we are still lasting. We can't actually blame those frequent-absentees cos as you venture out, your circle gets wider, your commitments increase. It's difficult to cater to all, difficult to strike a balance too. But with people like Howie and Jason and Jeremy who make things happen and Theresa and Wen and Josh and many many more who almost nev fail to support organised outings when they can, I think we still can go a long way. We have been pretty impressive already. I still hope that busy people will try their best to turn up when they can, not because it's an obligation, but because we really want to see you.
Oh btw batch 11 was there for Big Walk too and they had more people than us....boo!
So, well, don't be too hard on people, I think everyone of us has a heart to want to get together and make batch 12 live forever. Have faith!
Oh btw maybe batch 12 wun live forever cos somehow I really believe judgement day is coming soon. Til that day, we'll all meet in hell! Touchwood.
Oh yeah one last thing Jason has kindly offered to organise Op Nos for this year. Remember wat that is? So, anyone who has ideas or resources please help him out ok? Make it a reunion with those coming back and those MIAed for a long time.

Anyway about the biking I wasn't suggesting that we RIDE all the way north from like our own homes u'noe. These adventure tour agencies have these biking tour thingies where they'll take care of the logistics, so that the destinations are not imited by your personal leg-power. I think it's a good idea cos we have people who would like to have a sorta adventure tour with the rest of the guys but have problems with Europe or aren't THAT keen to spend like 3 weeks with the rest of the guys. ( commitment too great) Mebbe we should start small, but admittedly after school ends the prospect of a long trip together is roughly zilch. Erm..I don't wanna cycle in a stinky town in Redland either, maybe a scenic / traffic-free-er part of M'sia or somewhere else. Woohoo, gonna see Alan aka "The American Hermit" on Big Walk day. I mean, like, in person! Not in the papers! Woohooooooo! Oh yeah forgot I wanted to say I think that there are guys ( and ladies ) who would like to cycle but no bike/parents/heavy traffic/dun like to sweat it out stops them from doing so regularly/in S'pore. This would be a good chance for them, yes? Obviously this trip's not gonna be just for us 3 jokers ( who actually don't get to cycle all that often nowadays )

hmm....this add entry page took a damn long time to load.....

anyway..abt cycling....I'm very much against it lar....it's not that I'm against cycling, it's jus that there are way too many factors to take into acct if we go on a biking holiday..... and most of them are concerned with safety anyway... i mean...to name a few...how many hrs have we clocked on the road (besides wen, jer and hq) ? most of us hardly any....and a biking trip IS dangerous...it's not like m'sia and neighbouring countries are bike-frdly....and what if bikes get stolen? we walk? spare parts? anyone good at fixing bikes? and we definitely cannot travel in a big grp....we' e better off going to some destination and RENTING bikes there for a day or 2.... anyway...on a different note....went to watch Edtv today....gotta watch it...much much better than the Truman show...very very funny..... and that's besides the point...anyway...i went to borders..(met richard there too....but again...that's besides the point..) and boom...there she was...again...working there....yup...that same borders girl...hmm...haven contacted her for quite a while...b t din have enuff guts to go up to her to say hi....aww shucks...man...i felt like a fool...was just strolling abt the place...the books and pple all totally oblivious to me.... next week...i'm going to go right up....and ask her for that coffee that's been long overdue... wish me luck... btw...the muchuan thingee this sat is going to be on ok?...i'll try to reserve a table....and we'll meet at the same time...8pm...details a bit later... and er...jason...i cannot go to big walk oredi.... got NDP rehearsal...

Hmm my exercise is this week ( 3D 2N, all accommodations and meals provided, destinations Sarimbun/Lim Chu Kang/Live Firing Area/Sispec???!, mode is on foot in FBO. ) And exercise 2 is next week , 4D 3N, and another one 2 weeks later, and another one 3 weeks later...Life sucks. I never knew I could walk from Sarimbun to Sispec, racing 42 SAR's armour advance all the way south to recce ahead, THEN all the way NORTH to Sarimbun again. There were M113s, Bionixes, AMX-13s, rovers, tonners, jeeps, bikes, BV-206es, all going past 4 suckers on foot. Ah well girls prolly have no idea what I'm alking about. The horrors of NS. Anyway about the holiday - just on an unrelated note, I think a bicycling trip would be nice. Mebbe if this BIG thing falls thru ( or even if it doesn't ) we could have a small short CHEAP :) trip to a neighbouring country and just cycle around with our packs...I believe adventure tour agencies cater for such things.

Ok...Here's a thought... Xiufeng proposes that if we go to UK, we tour more of Europe as well... and not just UK alone.. I estimate that a month to 6 weeks trip would be required for such a tour and it would cost about $5000 to $6000... Any comments? Ano her way would be to go somewhere closer... Hullo pple......We had typical odac fun on sat...haha...the usual fastfood assault followed by dessert......met Lip Min too (b11), hah..the one with the waist dimensions of Youcong's thigh...anyway...Songhai had a brief encounter with Sharon Au too...and heresa..in her usual fan fervour even dressed up like her...even went back to delifrance to peek...too bad..she'd left the place....

Anyway it was on to NYDC..where we had some pretty nice dessert...with candles...music and all...Very showy...HEE...Oh oh oh oh...this i gotta mention....It was Mother's Day Eve...and it so happened that a no. of us assumed our mothers had an affinity for flowers....so guess what...the whole bunch of us ended up looking like some flower troop....invited stares...and the usual "aww how sweet" comments from the usual sat nite coffee-diners cum cheongesters.... definitely not for the self-conscious.... anyway...after that we all just kinda plonked down to our fave hangout...err...Jeremy's place???? tot that Marina might rain and all...aha..what the heck...I had a great time sleeping on jeremy's bed...had a brief session of worms2...a great party game i ink... well..that's pretty much for now...XF's next i presume? till then ...

I'm interested in the BIG WALK.... just happens to be the ONLY weekend that I'm totally free this month of May... every month my boss makes us compile next month's commitments... every month I fill up all but 2 or 3 days.... sheesh there's something to be done EVERYDAY... on top of all this, she still arrows us for various other odd-jobs... =( Weikai complained that I complain until very jia lat everytime I write here.. can't help it noe... it's the truth ... at least I have the trip to taiwan in the july-august period to look forward to... =)
