I suppose I'm not sick yet, this is typically the age when there still is drive to work hard and do well and etc....although there is still the occasional envy of simplistic countryside life
when those scenes appear on TV or magazines.
Yes the first time I watched Matrix I was also too busy absorbing those artificial pyrotechnic wonders. But I got the DVD now! So can look further into the story. And there was this part
that really caught me. Was when Morpheus (Fishburne) said that he was sorry to have brought Neo (Keanu) out to reality, and that there
is no turning back for him to be back to the Matrix. Then Morpheus asked, even if Neo could,
would he want to? I couldn't answer that myself,
if I were Neo. The thought of deceiving your physical self and living only a brain-life,
in the perfect human world with riches and luxuries and people you love....is too attractive.
But then again, it is still not REAL. Is being REAL really that impt?
Sigh...sorry for the babbling, it's just something I can't get over with, cos I really
can't answer Morpheus's question.

I'm already sick of the ratrace. Well- I'm surprised anyone noticed what the matrix was trying to say. I was too dazzled by the flying bullets and slick black trenchcoats.

I was comparing the two entries below and I could see the vast difference in meaning. There I was babbling about free net access and stuffs and the Thai gal wouldn't even know what the Net is,
probably the only net she knows is used for fishing livelihood. Which brings me to Wen's question like, is ignorance really bliss? The Matrix brought up a similar dilemma, of whether you want to stick to the REAL and fight for
freedom, or be inserted back to the Matrix to carry on the perfect human lifestyle. Similar as to whether you wanna urbanise and fight for riches and glory and survival, or stay simple and self-sufficient although knowing that there is a
better life out there.
I guess when I get sick of the ratrace (prob will be 40+ then), I'll yearn for the latter.

I'm back!I always wanted to try being a construction worker, and I did. ( Also a taxi driver, but that's another story )We were digging this well-thingy for a coupla days, and it was so darn big accross the 22 of us ( girls hardly count tho ) only managed
to deepen it by about one metre. I was one of the few that found it fun. // ( can u believe after years I still cannot paragraph? Anyone noticed b4? ) After that we went to a really ulu and therefore poor and isolated and primitive village to observe a on
e-a-year festival where the guys meet girls from other villages, and I was struck by how similiar our cultures actually are, courtship dances admist dark and smoky conditions, loud music and half-hearted dancing. // I was wondering how jaded we must be, t
sit on top of a mountain surrounded by sky, watching this rare festival and feeling so very bored. After four straight hours of looking alternately into a fire ( with at least five other guys ) and a really slow dance, and feeling ridiculously bored, yet
thinking that I shouldn't be, I took one look at the faces around me and broke into the deepest laughter since Howeyang and his gay son. All I had to do was approach a stone-faced guy and ask " ni you mei you yi DIAN DIAN sian?" and look at his expression
and I couldn't stop. Sometimes I really crack myself up. // Looking at their lives, I wonder how much they know of the outside world, outside of growing and harvesting and eating and sleeping and dancing once a year and the occasional cigarette. I wonder
about their lack of awareness, and whether that is good, bad,or even important. // I saw this girl, about my age or younger, flipping through an aged calender of skyscrapers and smiling caucasian faces. I saw her thoughtful looks, and wondered what she was
thinking, wished I could know what she was thinking, wished I had the words, or knew what it was exactly that I wanted to put into words.// END of story, without even a single comment, sideways or otherwise, on the Jeremy Saga.

Local people, has anyone tried out StarHub's free surfing thing, or you guys still waiting to see how it is? Let me do a little preliminary review hee
I ordered the starter kit online last week, and it just arrived. Starting up is a breeze, with really idiot-proof instructions. In fact the start up program is very aesthetically-appealing...
In no time I was registering for my account, activating it, and voila! I'm connected. StarHub supports 56K straight, unlike Pacnet, which offers
two lines, one 33.6K and another 56K, the latter charging more. Surfing is fast for local websites, and quite reasonable for overseas ones.
It's not bad at all, but maybe cos I'm trying it out in the afternoon it isn't accurate.
But anyway, for a freebie, this thing scores high.
Oh yar btw "minors" (under 21) so they claim need to have parent's authorisation to apply. And once they turn 21 they will have to apply for a new account. Shitty huh? Just 1 year short....

Ok final orders: There will be 2 groups meeting. The advanced party will meet at 12pm at the Changi playground. These people will go book the
campsite (suggested one is Mamam). 2nd party, which will most probably be the Christians, will meet at around 3pm (for confirmation pls contact Joshua, or Joshua will contact you).
About gift exchange, it is suggested that we each get a generic gift under 10 bucks, and the exchange partner will be disclosed only there and then. This is due to us not being able to confirm presence.
These are the stuffs for now...please remember to buy your own food....me and Josh will call up u guys to repeat these details.....and those who dun return page, hope you read conv at least =).
Right, see ya guys there!
p.s. I just lost my handphone...so do not call my hp number....boohoo

Rite guys I've been shot with a huge arrow that says "You're the Christmas-Ubin Organiser!".
Rite so here's the plan, listen to the man (hehheh). First gotta know who can make it and who can't.
Joshua should have called some of u guys already. When I can more or less confirm the manpower list, I'll draft a gift exchange list.
Then erm, we're supposed to bring our own food, wun be getting food in bulk. Tis more convenient.
And bring all the entertainment stuffs u can think of. CDs, cards, any stuff. Think we have enough tents...enough for like 20 men. And Jer, bring a 2-man tent instead, we'll leave u guys to ur sweet carouselling (is there such a word) under the moon.....h
hhehheh just kidding.
But anyway guys, prepare a gift under $10, spend more if you're swept nuts by the xmas spirit hehheh. Will be calling up u guys real soon to confirm the time and place and the gift exchange partner. Til Saturday!

Oh man I'm so glad someone put this idea into action...kudos Howie. Okay let's see what I can contribute.
I can provide a 6-man (really huge) A-frame, but don't think it's wanted now considering the high availability of tents that we have now.
Have a portable CD player/radio too, but I'm worried about the rain. Are we pitching in at Noordin? When it rains, everything'll get wet...
If someone can suggest a good remedy to that I'll bring the player (cos the player isn't mine in the first place I can't afford to damage it).
About buying stuffs on Friday, afraid that I can't join you guys, cos you know, Friday, Xmas Eve, that kinda stuff..hehheh..hope you'll understand lar.

Sat, we'll meet late morning, at Changi Village, gonna cycle ard Ubin, and then spend the nite there till the next morn...Ok?...
the hard part is getting pple and stuff there... Jeremy and Yvonne can provide a tent each, so there'd be sufficient sleeping quarters for at least 8pple...
next, we need abt 2 burners, mess tins, to cook stuff....
we need some music, so anyone got a portable radio/cd player? And if possible bring like guitar and cds....
we'll prob meet on fri afternoon to shop for some food too...
bring a carolling book?...i tink we got some pretty experienced carollers in out midst...
ubiquitous pack of cards....
ok...that's all i can tink of now...i really need mebbe 2 more persons to help in the coordination, coz i've got an exercise this whole week and won't be out till fri, so i really need 2 pple to get things sorted out, like calling pple up, arranging th time and place,so....please respond yeah?...on my mind now is weikai and jeremy or joshua, but it's not necessarily so, coz everyone can chip in....
oh yeah, we need a camera....scan the photos and put them up on ecircles...

Oh about Abandonware, I was searching on the net for old games but I didn't know they are classified as Abandonware until I chanced upon
Xinyan's list in Ecircles. Followed the link and WOW, all those games I dearly missed!
Got to recommend some real classics, if you've been growing up with 386, 486s you shouldn't be alien to these:
Monkey Island I, Monkey Island II LeChuck's Revenge, Maniac Mansion II Day of the Tentacle,
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
If Songhai remembers, these were the games which accompanied us through those wild gaming years in RI. BTW these are Adventure games by LucasArts,
and they are evergreens. I still haven't got sick of them. The music is superb even tho technology
at that time would only offer MIDI, nevertheless
it would a great plus point at that time. The music tracks of the Monkey Island series are
excellent, Caribbean Music, that of pirates and grogs and pieces of eights.
And I don't think there will be any problems with too fast a processor speed since adventure games dun deal with speed that much.
Well, enjoy those evergreens.

We are anxiously awaiting the next issue of Theresa's travelogues. Erm Xinyan, as for the planning thing, theresa and me were mainly working on getting us there and a roof over our heads and we thought the activities would take care of themselves, which t
ey did, mostly. Wenyi was suggesting a biking trip in Malaysia which sounds really interesting- if we can somehow find a day to go. About Ubin, hows about a weekday next week? Go there and cycle. Hmm...in spite of the recent article on problems that guys
ace when mountain biking... We'll talk about on Saturday yes? I had to miss the squash session- I wuz busy being buried in a sea of kids. (as a helper for my church's chidren's camp) If we could somehow hook them to a generator the world's energy problems
would be solved. Quite exhausting trying to organise the 16 hyper kids, thankfully it wasn't mainly my problem. It was really really enjoyable and I thank God for those 4 1/2 days, with its frustrations (why do the boys keep trying to kill one another?) s
inky rooms (try living in a roomful of 5-12 year old boys) and extremely huggable and perceptive kids.

hey! hi! I was wating for a xinyan entry before i wrote this cos i like the way she describes events. So i started writing one in my mailbox cos it wd be really long but am taking ten years to complete it. And now it is already tuesday. So it's quite late
but nevermind yah. This is my account of the highlights anyway. ahem
On monday, we met at bedok mrt to troop together to tanah merah ferry terminal. Unfortuantely xinyan didn't know about it and so half an hour before the ferry was due to leave xinyan was still nowhere in sight. So, did she go? YES! she flew in suddenly an
asked worriedly,"Hey my taxi driver said this terminal cannot go desaru you know. are you sure we can?" After setting the taxi driver right, we excitedly boarded the ferry. This was one claustrophobic affair. These were well-furnished but you can't look
ut the window cos it has dirt encrusted as patterns in the glass, much less climb on deck to soak in the sea and sky cos there ain't no deck. 45minutes later we arrived at this jetty where there was the smallest customs counter I have ever seen. THEN we w
re packed into a SIX-seater to be deposited at our hotel. Have you noted the seamlessness of the whole thing? amazing, huh? 6-seater some more. The initial section of the trip was peppered with huge golf courses, so fakeo. After dumping our stuff in the r
om, we gathered up enough energy to find lunch. Here we made another discovery. Accomodation and transport was so cheap (S$30 each per person) because the food was not! 8 singapore dollars per dish! So we determinedly cycled our way to a much cheaper dinn
r. Here the menu was entirely in malay and there were 6 unsure but hopeful people ordering. telur means egg! The night was spent playing table-tennis (lots of unsuspercted talent here) and watching lots of tv. tcs 5, i am embarrassed to say.
The next morning was the highlight! The beach was closed because it was kinda rough, so poof! went any visions we were having of windsurfing gracefully along the horizon. But we climbed into the sea and before long were tossing ourselves into the waves wi
h abandon, and this was followed by Glide-Over-The-Wave with arms and legs outstretched, first head on, then backwards. And you can feel yourself falling along the contour of the wave. We tried the legs-first version too but that yielded some embarassing
esults. It was terribly fun. I don't remember doing anything with such abandonment for so long.
This was followed by more table-tennis, then dinner at a seafood restaurant. The only food from the sea was 3 1/4 crabs and a little bowl of sharks' fin s
up which we ate very carefully cos we were mostly broke and that was extremely precious. I don't know what happened after that cos i promptly fell asleep. The next day we woke up so late it was time to check out already.
Well this probably describes it. Wasn't sure if you all wanted to read it, but maybe you did? So i wrote it anyway. Oh, lastly, it was exceptionally sunny and i thought it just happened to be a break in the endless rain but when i came home i realised it
ad rained in singapore so we were really quite lucky. Okay, i'm done.
I'm free, free this saturday!

I dunno... I've actually heard some very negative things about this guy and someone totally didn't hesitate to call him an asshole. I don't know if it's unfair to be less sensitive cause the guy is well... not-so-nice, to put it politely. But I can't help
it either. Personally, i don't think it's wrong to have the reaction that you had. I think that maybe if I were you, I would have had a similiar reaction. Though I wouldn't use the word disgusted.
I don't think there is a right or wrong anyway. I mean.. this sort of thing, isn't it all about personal values. If you happen to be more liberal-minded about this sort of thing, then you won't be so offended. If not, there's nothing wrong about it what..

Hello! As usual I come to know about the outing after it, hehe. I've come to a conclusion after some thinking, the job of being an escort itself is not disgusting, it depends on the person. Wenyi and Josh, the stuff uall said about not being able to contr
l ur life? I'm still thinking. I'm stuck. Siwei help me out here. I keep thinking they're wrong but wat they said are indisputable.
Weikai - 11/28/99 14:36:09
Ok ok I know you guys are going to bomb me....fact is that I'm supposed to finish by 8 last nite, but we dragged til about 10+. And my hp batt was flat, I din off it. So sorry to have miss it, once again, I'll definitely leave next SAT free now that you "
ooked" it in advanced...for yesterday, I had something lined up already before I knew about the gathering.
Bear with me, I got to lament here: I got to take IPPT!! Now that's not so much to lament about right?
But the problem is, I was only informed like 5-6 days in advanced. My test date is the coming Thursday. I haven't been seriously running since I disrupted, and my running fitness fell down the cliff. Ok that's my fault I admit, but I'd never expect to do
PPT in the 4 yrs of studying cos
we are not supposed to take it!
What's even more ridiculous is that only those who opted back for work needed to take IPPT, those slacking and enjoying life needn't! This holiday attachment is entirely voluntary, and us kind volunteers have to take IPPT. Absurd...Plus the fact of the 6
ays notice....this is utterly unfair.
Ok you guessed right that if I can pass easily I wouldn't be complaining so much.....true, the fact is that my running can't meet the pass mark...the rest like chin-up are ok....just my 2.4 needs lots of work...and I don't think 6 days is enough to build
ack stamina and running
fitness lost through 1 1/2 years of slacking.
Jason, the order came down right from AMD, Mindef. I can't do much retaliation. And I think failures need to do Remedial Training thrice a week, 2 hours each session, after work!
I'm so fed-up with this nonsense....in the meantime I'm running everyday....in hope that I'll pick up what I've lost...
Howie - 11/27/99 18:04:20

Weikai - 11/24/99 16:12:42
We're back from Desaru! Pretty tired out and burnt out for some of us, but it was a fun trip anyway. Especially the rare appearance from Xinyan and her tales of Mr. Tan.
Was a really pleasant get-together despite the small number.
Ok here's the more impt thing: Haoyang suggests a major gathering this Saturday. We request for all who can make it to please try to come. Put a big cross over that day in ur calendar, that it's taken. It'll most prob be in
the evening, starting off with a dinner. Then HY says we go bowling somewhere....

feeling pretty zonked after a full 7+ days incamp 24 hours. Tho I did manage to watch all 12 disks of GTO... but it was still a pleasant surprise to see the new page design plus the huge new load of entires. HOW COME NO ONE TOLD ME ABOUT THE DESARU TRIP??
???????
oh well, I guess it's too late... will be on exercise this weekend, so tt's another weekend burnt... SAF never ceases to amaze me with it's numerous avenues for wasting time, energy and manpower. >SIGH<... this next exercise requires regular communication
with pple in Australia... and they're doing it by satellite phone, for like 5 long days. I guess it would be weird if I commented on Mr Tan or Mr Zhao at this late stage of the "conv" but I'm sure they deserve every bit of disgust you guys have voiced ou
. Some things we just can't accept. It's just like a friend of mine in camp who simply cannot "believe" tt a teacher and a student can allow themselves to fall in love (Jap Drama HY lent me) Couldn't watch the thing in camp COZ HE KEPT VOICING OUT HIS SHO
K OF THIS TYPE OF RELATIONSHIP HAPPENING.
Anyway, enjoy yourselves in the after-exams stage, cox I noe the next stage is even harder to survive (the results receiving stage)
btw, my friend's got this soft toy of Kenny here tt goes "F*** You! F***ing Jerk! You're an Asshole! Eat Shit!" everytime you squeeze his head. cute huh. =)

Yes, Siwei, u've got a point there, i've tot about it also, but it's like tt mr tan's case u noe? i'm so disgusted tt i just had to include the name. according to pp who noe him, the RI guy tt is, he can't talk properly without swearing and showing the th
rd finger, tt kind of guy, and he supposedly enjoys his job, so i dun really feel the need to be sensitive towards him. however, i dun noe whether i did the right thing, whether writing it here or being disgusted by it. i suppose i think tt anything said
ere will be kept here, since we're a close group of pp, like my 4/12 online journal, where we agreed tt when we bitch about pp, it's kept private, so i just assumed. :o) i do think i'm getting more and more bitchy tho' :p if any of uall noe the guy person

Haoyang..haven't u noticed by now that.. the less cloth needed for a piece of clothing.. the more expensive it is.. so if that woman is that rich.. the pieces of cloth she wears must be very very small...
Xinyan.. how did u know abt that guy??!!
Shouldn't he be in NS now? anyway... whether its a guy or girl.. same feeling applies in my case.. earning money tht way is not exactly a very respectable thing... but i suppose they'll have some sob story behind them ... mebbe they have no choice if the

I'm so disgusted!! yes, again. coz I found out tt there's this guy called Zhang Hao one year our junior from RI GEP, he's working as an escort!! Politely put, he goes all the way, as an escort tt is. I also dunno why I'm so disgusted, probably because he
oes it for the money and not because he bi bu de yi u noe? Like if it was a woman i'd probably have tot oh she's forced by circumstances blah blah. I guess i'm sexist. the money's really good, $800 an assignment. I want to be open-minded, but, I can't. i
unno why. why is being paid for sex disgusting? someone tell me why i should or should not be disgusted. let me hear ur views. hmm, the more i write the more i feel less disgusted and feel i shouldn't have been disgusted in the first place. do uall think
his kind of sex-related job can be done with dignity? Comments: Comments:
shucks, u lucky pple get to go to Desaru...man...it's just not gonna be the same WITHOUT ME rite?....*chuckle*...take lotsa pictures yeah?...just really kick back....u guys all prob deserve the hard-earned break....
watch The World is Not Enough, if not for the fabulous but utterly bimbotic Bond girls(esp Denise Richards)and kooky gadgets, then for the absurdly corny jokes and one-liners spewed here and there....it's terrible...the script is a literary disaster...but
anyway...i'd say it's a very guy-movie...with the ladies and gadgets...but for the ladies...hmmm....not really the best looking guy Pierce Brosnan is, is he?...unless u like a chestful of hair...some females think it's sexy and a sign of virilty???? Besid
s his accent's not as commanding as Sean Connery's...But personally...i was thinking to myself, the lead actress (Sophie Marceau) plays and oil baroness, so she should be filthy rich rite? But why in the world is she always having trouble finding some clo
hes to cover herself? Now that's stumbling...She looks pretty cheapskate...in a shawl and blanket only in most of the scenes...Just the bare necessities i suppose....
haha..viv..u reminded me of this very KL cab driver...i hailed a cab with a frd ard 11:40 pm at orchard..and had to get back to camp by er...midnite?...anyway...in the cab, he kept saying lotsa nonsense like we owe him the world...like he's saving our but
s and the likes...even said that when we reach the gate of our camp...just dump the money...dun even tink abt the change and run....well...it was the closest closest shave i ever had in my military life...but what kept me absolutely laffing was when that
articular song by the Vengaboys was playing when we were in the cab...he added this line after the chorus..."no, later we're gonna eat Char Kuay Teow...."
Anyway...for ur info...Ibiza is this absolute party haven in an island near Spain, where in summer, the place is packed full of cheongsters...well..what i heard is that it's a very progressive dance place..as in latest music and stuff...not the retrostuff
that's played to death here...but lotsa drugs, booze and sex there too...real hedonistic place....and one more thing...it's pronounced Ibitha, not Ibiza like the Vengaboys sang...
Was thinking....u noe all the overseas pple...esp jason and alvin? like when u come back....surprise us...like u noe....talk funny...pierce an ear....colour ur hair....grow a stubble or goatee....or show us some impersonation, song or dance that u've learn

by the way, some of our old entries are floating about in cyberspace, i mean, i just went to search for the online conv at geocities by searching for weikai (this is another comp, no bookmark), and i got to read some of the really really old entries. try
t. i wonder how to prevent this....
anyway, i declare 14th nov my most unlucky day. i must pour my sorrows out here. uall must listen to me patiently........ uall know right, having not exercised properly for 2 years and looking pasty white, i decided to revisit pulau ubin. So i went, w
th 3 other frens. All was fine and we were enjoying ourselves when the sky became ominously cloudy. So, we decided to seek shelter at the hut between Kampong Melayu and the Last House. Remember tt hut? little hut by the sea just after the very small but q
ite steep slope. they tore it down and rebuilt it so it's a bit bigger now. tt's when.....we met HIM! Mr. tan, 55 yrs old, ranger of some singapore nature society or some nonsense, member of some mountaineering club in singapore, hater of PAP
hater of sissys, blah blah, bleah!
anyway, back to the story, we were there in the nice little hut with our bikes when tt irritating, obnoxious mr tan came with an american couple in tow (the couple was alright). When he saw us, he asked us where we were headed. I replied tt we were going
o the last house not knowing what else to call it. To my surprise, he said they were headed the same way, and asked us to join them. since we were there to wait out the rain, we said no. However, the great mr tan was a person who wouldn't take no for an a
swer, oh no! he taunted us by saying we're not made of sugar and tt we're orchard-road-going city-kids who knew nothing about nature, yes, those were the exact words. Well, so, we fell for his trick, what do you expect, and followed him. Ten minutes later
the sky was pouring, complete with lightning and thunder, and it was mr tan's turn to ask the group to seek shelter, clever man he, after we were all drenched. while at the shelter i overheard snippets of conversation he had with the two americans, impre
sing them with his "outdoor knowledge". and get this, he was telling them about 'two girls who drowned while trying to get a certificate'. By this time i was really sick and tired of the man and was trying to think of ways to be rid of him. Unfortunately
he rain. we waited about ten minutes, and, seeing the rain is not going to lessen, he ordered us back to our bikes and we continued on our way. soon, we neared the last house but instead of continuing on, he turned in at the fence. after his proud proclam
tion to the americans tt tah-dah, we have reached the last house, i said no. this is not our last house. i think he was pissed, but i explained tt the last house was but a nickname, and he probably din know what it was. anyway, since tt was not our last h
use, we wanted to part ways and go by ourselves, unfortunately mr tan insisted he knew where the last house was, and insisted on leading the way. so we went, past the last house, to another one further away. again to his proud proclamation i said no, and
t we've past it. i think the americans were losing confidence in him, because five minutes later they made some excuses and were gone. i think he was now *really* pissed at me. we started arguing from tt point on. we turned back to go back to the jetty, w
th him leading of course. on the way back, the youngest member of our group, a 12 year old boy, got himself a deep scratch. a scratch, i admit but bleeding fast, nonetheless. we stopped to tend to his wounds, but mr tan urged us on. he said tt tending to
ounds were for sissies and weak city kids and we youngsters didn't know what a real wound was. after we insisted on stopping the bleeding he said some nonsense about the boy growing up to be gay. i argued with him. he said i didn't know what gays were, i
aid gays were homosexuals, and he said no, i shut up. on the way back he also insisted on deviating from the road to show us "places we've never seen b4" (orchid farm, kg mamman, quarry), i said no thanx, we've been there b4, and he said impossible, so we
went, anyway. he also insulted the everest expedition and the antartica expedition. he said they were planned by ego-maniacs who didn't know what they were doing and these were gimmicks for the PAP. i said he was talking nonsense, he said i was a PAP supp
rter. he also claimed tt the everest expedition eas not recognised by world mountaineering assoc. or something like tt, because they broke some rules while climbing. he said it was all to nought, i argued tt it was a personal triumph and world recognisati
n was not important, he said i was brainwashed. he continued insulting the everst team and i said no, they're not like tt, saying i know 1 of them (mr. leong). he said i was a youngster who didn't know anything. the last straw came at changi village, wher
we unluckily met him again. get this, he commented on the BTC incident last year and called the teachers in charge ego-maniacs (limited vocab) and said lots of other things, even tho' he didn't know what happened. i kept quiet, tired of arguing with him
he whole day on ubin, but i felt really sorry for not having said something about it to him. i guess i felt inadequate to defend mr. leong coz i was not there at tt time. anyway, this thing's been troubling me a long time and it felt much much better at h
ving voiced it all out here, whew!

Weikai - 11/21/99 10:45:57
Interesting topic! First I'd like to point out that he's from RI GEP, not express. Hehheh okay just kidding don't wanna start a fight yet.
Giving my two dollars worth, I find it quite hard to swallow as well, the escort thing. But who knows, maybe he is in some financial difficulty.
I don't know if I feel more digusted towards a gigolo (sorrie lar, to put it simply) or a whore.
I just think that one should (depends) only resort to such way out when totally desperate. If it's done out of greed or horniness or fame(?!), then, well, there should come one day when they
will regret.
Sidetracking, I think $800 an assignment is good money huh! Hmmm...too bad...me not qualified
harhar. And too, I don't understand how some male escorts can stand being buried in flabs and tonnes of oil, you know, when that happens. Those
are enough to put me off to watch soccer the rest
of the night. Maybe I watch too much of hong kong movies.
EAT PIZZA was what I thought too, for quite some time. Til my younger sis showed me the lyrics one day and I was like, oh man, I've been humming the lyrics silly all along! I mean, it doesn't sound
so bad when you sing "eat pizza" thinking it should be "eat pizza". But once you realised it's Ibiza, doesn't "eat pizza" sound so silly?!
And harhar, I din know I'm not the only one who listens to tasteless dance music harhar. Though tasteless, I must say that the rhythm really gets you to the song. Sometimes the tune too, really catchy.
Oh yeah, Ibiza is also the model of a car, but I don't know what brand. See the word around on roads quite often.
No anonymous entries hor! Think some past anonymous entries have got pple sounding displeasure. If you've forgotten to put your name, just post another entry after that to
identify yourself. Let's make this our conv etiquette ok!
Xinyan - 11/20/99 19:58:30
Hey, Weikai really made the clock quite fit in, luckily I din do it, or I wouldn't know where to put it. Yap, the code for the clock's taken from the web, I just modified it a bit. I tried to modify it a lot, but it din work, so i modified it a bit *grin*
Probably the same source as Jason's clock. The day I can write something like tt in Javascript, hehehehe, well, I guess quite good lor.
- 11/20/99 17:16:57
Hello! Now that song keeps playing in my head. And i thot it was eat pizza and was actually identifying with it and thinking good things till someone informed me it was ibiza.
Well the rain so far only comes in the afternoon so i hope that keeps up a
d that would leave the morning for xinyan to tan herself, afternoon for some indoor sports (you know, like bridge......ahem) , and it will clear up in time for a lovely evening!! Sunset! ...optimism
And did anyone see the moon tonight? there was this
uge halo around it, a fuzzy white ring sixty times the size of the moon.
And xinyan i'm glad you wrote that story. nothing to add that hasn't been said. 'Cept that I owuld have been very worked up. Wonder if i would know how to argue in such situatio
s. It's not easy to be levelheaded when agitated.
Jason! Nice reading abt your lining-up-to-get-an-apartment adventures....can practically see you all bundled up and freezing... Yes I'm quite outdated... these are accumulated responses..

's another milestone.....just curious, are we the only batch that has gone officially online? Just wondering.
Vivien - 11/20/99 14:36:53
Wow, the clock is really cool! U mean Xinyan did it? or got the prog from somewhere...whew, if she did it, Xinyan u are really sth...
oh, guys enjoy urself at Desaru, hope it doesn't rain all day tho, it's been pretty wet these few days. cldn't join u pple ...but have fun there ...
n btw, u mean that song by Venga boys...it's we are going to ibiza?? not Eat Pizza?? hee, that's wat i thot all along...where is ibiza anyway?
Weikai - 11/20/99 05:12:04
Jason noted to me that the layout of this page is quite out, including that of the clock, when this page is loaded by Netscape. So, netscape users, just bear with it for the time being...cos I really don't know what to do about it. I only have IE5, so my
rrangement of layout is entirely based on IE5.
And erm, maybe can feedback on the time needed to load this page as well. For me, it didn't take too long to load...
Weikai - 11/20/99 05:00:13
We got a clock, guys! Yes I call it the triclock cos it's capable of displaying time of 3 different
zones. TRICLOCK is courtesy of Xinyan, who has worked hard to make it work. TRICLOCK will be
upgraded to QUADCLOCK soon to include California time. Xinyan is still working on it.....
Also got to mention that Jason has also contributed a similar clock, but since Xinyan got
there first, we'll use hers. Just want to give credit to the two QUARTERMASTER/MISTRESS!
To prevent the side menu to be too long such that a vertical scroll bar appears, I've taken out
the kenny-torturing instructions. You guys should know what to do by now right....if you forgot, just place your cursor over different parts of Kenny and the relevant link will appear.
Ho, WE'RE GOING TO DESARU (sung to the tune of Venga Boys: We're going to Ibiza)!!!

Xinyan, Could you please call Joshua at 95430381(pgr) ASAP, coz he needs to confirm bookings on the ferry?...Oh Josh...dun need to worry...my interviews postponed to Thursday afternoon....
Xinyan - 11/18/99 08:51:45
Hi, i hope when we go Bintan or Desaru it doesn't rain like today. It'll be quite silly be spend $100++ to play cards :p
Shiyin - 11/18/99 06:24:11

Siwei - 11/17/99 21:50:38
Can someone tell me why I keep getting an error message saying "internet explorer script error"?
and what do I do about that?
Wen - 11/17/99 16:22:37
Yvonne it's "prove" not "proof". Verb and noun, yah? Anyway just had a strange thought - this Mr Tan guy, what would he do with a piece of Siwei's mind and a piece of Jeremy's? Sounds like a pretty powerful recipe ( for disaster ) there. Just imagine, Jer
my and Siwei's disjointed minds together..........
Xinyan - 11/17/99 15:20:17
Yeah yeah when i was at Ubin i was wishing uall were there, at least a few oso can. of course i'll be pasty white when u see me, i go there to be not pasty-white rite? i really hope will have sun there.......
Jeremy - 11/17/99 07:15:35
Xinyan, I'm amazed that you kept your cool... I must say that if I were there, I wouldn't have kept mine and would have given him a piece of my mind. Sometimes, some people can just be downright obnoxious. Mmm. well.. good to hear you're interested in Des
ru. Can finally see you again after so long..

arghhhhhhhhh... the stooopid alarm clock(not mine) has been ringing since 8pm last nite... and its 10 am this morning.... soooo irrritating!!!!!!! its prob some guy who forgot to switch it off b4 he went home!!! ok ok.. i shall try to keep cool... but its
just this nagging beep beep beep in the background tt is so loud the whole block can hera it.... the perils of hall life...:) hey xinyan... tt guy sounds like he's trying to proof himself or something... maybe he was trying to show off... but u folied his
plan time and again!! def more irritating than the alarm clock!!! :) people convince me to skip classes to go desaru!!!! i can't decide whether i shld or not..... but i realli want to go... just feel bad abt skipping classes.. my fren was telling me to go
bintan instead... tis one hr away.... weekend $135 per triple rm... so weekdays shld be cheaper... and no monsoon there coz we may nto be able to do stuffs in desaru due to monsoon!
Shiyin - 11/16/99 20:02:29
Wah Xinyan.. How u managed to keep ur cool??... he sounds like someone out of a movie whose sole purpose in living is to irritate those ard him as much as he can just by opening his mouth..
prob is some anti-govt guy who is angry with the whole world..
Mebbe it's this guy!!!
Siwei - 11/16/99 05:27:32
And Wen.. tsk tsk.. you are ONE lazy bum.
Siwei - 11/16/99 05:26:12
Oh man... that Mr Tan guy sounds horrible. wah lau.. I wish I hadn't read it, cause I can think of a thousand and one things to say to the bloody old bugger. (yes, a thousand and one VERY-NOT-NICE things). Sorry Xinyan. I didn't mean that you can't write
tuff like that here. Feel free to write. I'm just saying that I'm actually feeling quite pissed right now. I guess I'm quite sensitive to the BTC issue cause over here, alot of the people in SSA knew about it and they were all making comments about it wit
out really knowing anything about it at all. And I always got rather upset trying to defend ODAC. And if I were there to hear the guy insulting you like that, I would really have given him a piece of my mind. Maybe more than one... Grr.... can't believe s
ch obnoxious people exist.
well.. sorry...
Wen - 11/16/99 02:51:05
Oh goody! Yes Xinyan is interested! You see, I'm supposed to call up NTU people but since you saw it here first....now all you have to do is call..Theresa! for details. Anyway we'll be glad to see you again, hopefully not so pasty white this time. Btw tha
guy sounds insufferable, why didn't you just tell him to shove off. I can hardly believe that someone like that exists, have we met him before? It's really incredible, like he's the guru-hermit-wise-man-of-Ubin kinda thing.
Tell him if he's so great go grow your own food, otherwise what's this city-kids crap. Good grief, we're Singaporeans, obviously we're city kids. Bet he buys food at the market with "city"-money like everyone else. Whatta moron. Living out a Tarzan pipe d
eam in Ubin of all places. Well, Tarzan man will be out of a job in a coupla years, maybe he can be a tour guide in Ubin instead. "Last time, this place was a jungle paradise, and over here on the left, ..."
Xinyan - 11/15/99 23:07:53
oops, i think i got carried away. weikai, can u pls help me paragraph when u have the time, thanx!

Dear everyone,
Who is interested in going to desaru next week, 22nd-24th (yah that's just next week, i know, exams what, what to do, hmm?). So far, people who can go are me, wenyi, weikai, jeremy, joshua. rite? we can take a ferry there from changi f
rry terminal, costs $40 return trip. then accomodation is $100 (not each) for the chalet per night. (ie divide that by the number of pp X presumably 2 nights) um hum hum..anything else? well please let me know if you wanna go.
Wen - 11/15/99 16:32:49
I see appearances really count....a change in skins got everyone posting again. And is it only me that finds it ironic that Siwei!!, of all people, messed up her hanyu pinyin. Anyway my main point is to thank Jason for the postcard. Really impressed that
ou send us guys here postcards; you even got my new address. Thanks a lot.Must be hell to be stuck in your romm for a month studying, how come normal exams also have prelims? Anyway try not to stress yourself too much, in a month surely you can afford a f
w hours for some play somewhere.

Hey Weikai, really great job on the convs page. :) It looks really nice now, (not that it didn't look nice before), and the south park picture is real cute.
Alvin - 11/15/99 14:37:47
You know, if you go to the police station near Oxford Circus where all the shops are, somebody walks in every couple of minutes to report his/her wallet stolen. No wonder there's pickpocket warning signs all over the place. One of my friends lost £100 on
er 1st day here, not to mention the debit and credit cards
Jeremy - 11/15/99 09:41:00
Yes vv.. I know the feeling..well.. quite down... Hoping someone will call me and tell me they found it...shucks...no matric card and a paper tomorrow..gotta use passport..
vv - 11/15/99 08:35:22
hmmm, y does such coincidence always happen....i lost my wallet too jere....sigh, i'm so depressed...
Jeremy - 11/15/99 05:06:52
I MUST declare that November 14,1999 is a super suay day for me. I lost my wallet, broke my handphone, injured my shins, got rained on, got cramps climbing the stairs, got chased out of SAJC by the gatekeeper.... sigh... well..at least the days over... an
hopefully with it all my misfortune...
Siwei - 11/15/99 04:58:22
yes.. typo from me. It's Chu1 Lu4. TCS's translation is "stepping out" but personally,i think it's a rathe lousy translation. I mean... it totally doesn't capture what the term "chu1 Lu4" meant to all those immigrants. And it's not a historical show lah.
t's just set in those times, but it's just like other TCS shows -- got romance, broken hearts, injustice, the good guys getting downtrodden by bad guys, a rich heir who doesn't know anything other than to eat drink and make merry, until his fortune turns
n him and causes his downfall.. that kind of thing. I've only watched 4 episodes, so I don't know much of the plot, but I personally like "Xu2 Mei3 Zhen1", so I kinda like the show so far. Got quite sad cause she just died in the 4th episode. Or at least
think so... must be lah...got shot point-blank.. a bit hard not to die... I heard that the freshmen over here are REALLY into PCK and some show called Coup de Scorpion. I dunno what it's about but it actually sounds like a rather poor attempt to sound fr
nch and chic.
Jeremy - 11/15/99 03:14:34
Well done, Weikai, looks great having the new skin on the Conversations. Mmmm.. well... now that we're almost all going to be free soon.. What are the plans for the hols?.. Do you have to go back for attachment this hols?
Shiyin - 11/14/99 16:22:33
Wah... Jason.. u sound more in touch with the S'pore media than me... I haven't watched PCK and under one roof since dunno when... the last time i watched it.. Bobby was making life difficult for Paul... what's going on in it now?
And er.. what's Chu1 Lu4 ???
Weikai - 11/14/99 16:15:28
Hey I'm impressed by the sudden influx too! Was only abt an hour since I updated conv and there I see all those new entries. Anyway, thanks guys for the positive feedback.
Jason ah, the scanner cover should be able to be lifted up (or at least inclined) to accomodate a 3d object rite? In addition to that my scanner is supposed to be able to capture 3d dimensions and perspectives, as what they boast on the box.
And I don't really understand how to put the time thing noe...are there applets or programs or free such clocks on the net? If got, maybe you can tell me more about it? Or if you like, you can
do the update! I'll send u the password if you are interested. And yes, there is quite some space left below big Kenny.
Jason you using such a high resolution...means you will see some discontinuity in the background image rite? Cos my background image width quite short only. Like that quite ugly right?
It's good that you guys overseas can still catch up on some TCS stuff....maintain the link back home. Is Chu1 Lu4 nice? I didn't really watch much of it....like that kind of slow slow historical show....not my type =).
Jason - 11/14/99 15:58:50
Wow... what a pleasant surprise!
Woke up in the morning only to read HQ entry, then went out to study a bit... came back to the room and wow... a new layout and so many entries... Ü
Wah, Weikai. U mean u can scan 3D objects with your scanner? Or did u squeeze poor Kenny flat? Suggestion: mabbe u can add a few clocks in the page (with S'pore time, GMT, Eastern Time and Pacific Time, hope I get the time zones correct) so that we kno
what's the time in other places. (good place: below big kenny?? I am using 1024 * 768, so I dunno if there is any space in 800*600)
Xiao Qian Huo Dong is recreational activity. Yup.. wonders of technology... we are all abusing our bandwidth to watch stuff like PCK, Under One Roof and Chu1 Lu4 (Step Out)... managed to catch part of the 933 Hit Awards on radio too. These stuff b
ing me closer to S'pore but make me feel homesick too = (
Shiyin - 11/14/99 15:23:43
Vivien!! xiao1 qian3 huo2 dong4 is pastime ... her fav past time is watching er... i dunno what that is also... chi1 lu4?? or issit chu1 lu4??
vv - 11/14/99 15:17:39
hahaha...hi sywei..=)
wat is xian qian huo don?? chi lu??
Siwei - 11/14/99 15:16:31
Hello Vivien !!!
Hmm.. I don't know if you're going to see this again now, but I just thought of saying hello while you're online..hee..
Siwei - 11/14/99 15:15:08
hee.. Vivien added that entry almost immediately after mine. i wonder how many of us are checking out this website even as I type. The wonders of techonology - we're all doing the same thing from all over the world at the same time... I know, I know... it
s nothing new but somehow it never ceases to amaze me... it's like how I can be listening to 93.3 at the same time as you all. Oh btw, one of my current "xiao1 qian3 huo2 don4" is watching Chi1 Lu4 =)
Vivien - 11/14/99 15:13:05
Oh my Goodness...wat a coincidence...sywei wrote added an entry at the same time as me..and guess wat..our starting few words are the same!!! whew...
Vivien - 11/14/99 15:11:45
Wow, weikai...i'm truly amazed by the things u can do...=)
Siwei - 11/14/99 15:10:51
Wow.. Weikai.. you're quite amazing, man... Thanks for the new layout. I think it looks great!
Weikai - 11/14/99 14:40:07
Harros! Yeah when you see changes to the page means my exams are over...YaY! What a relief...
Before anything, if you see a weird layout, it prob means you are still accessing geobook.html. Change the add from geobook.html to conv.html, as mentioned in the mail I've sent you guys. In geobook.html, you can't add entries and view past
entries etc...so please make the change =).
This page is optimised for 800x600 resolution, and a "clean" browser, means without frill menu bars cluttering the browser. Rotating Kenny may
appear below the title "conversations" if your browser width isn't wide enough.
Ok, that's all the tech stuff, you must be asking "WHY KENNY?!" Heh no particular reason, just that I was thinking of a new theme then I saw my cutey Kenny Squeezy lying on my table. And guys, I think it's damn cute! You should see how it looks like when
squashed. It's a stress-ball kinda thing. But anyway I managed to scan it in,
even mugshot style, and put together an animated gif. I don't actually watch Southpark, but Kenny IS cute. Except for the fact that he dies all the time.
This new layout is a frame thingy...tot maybe it's easier to navigate or something, so gave it a shot. You can add new entries, read past entries etc by torturing kenny by what the instructions state. Any problems accessing, please reflect to me!
I hope for a BIG B12 gathering soon too. In the meantime Theresa is planning for a Desaru thing. Think you guys shld hear from her soon.
Those still plagued by exams, WORK HARD! Good luck buddies.
HQ - 11/14/99 11:29:39
Realised tt I haven't written for a long time... being in an active Battalion doesn't help... will be on Alert Red Standby again next week... meanig another 07x24h in camp... actually it's abt half a day more coz we gotta hand-over to the next standby bat
ery... then it'll be Exercise "Wargame-in-air-con-rm" for the next 5 days. Basically it just means tt I'll have no weekend to call my own for the next 2 weeks.
>SIGH< and I had to miss tt once in a blue moon movie outing yesterday coz some GOON went over to Malaysia w/o getting someone to stand in for her DOO Duty 1st... >BIG SIGH< Anyway, if anyone is free on the 23rd, I am... my one and only full OFF day I thi
k in the next 2 weeks to come, pls call =) Hope you all did well for your Exams...=Þ
Wen - 11/13/99 18:20:15
Methinks the "ARGH" was due to granny's inability to join any hypothetical "big B12 gathering". Methinks also that this gathering is extremely hypothetical and probably will not happen anytime soon. Methinks also also that "methinks" is a spastic expressi
n..... Anyway Siwei don't despair, you and Jason have to depend on each other there, yeah? Now there's a Chinese proberb for this, I think. Anyway nothing terribly exciting is happening here, we'll be sure to inform you if someone gets married / drops dea
.
