The Philippine Centennial Scout Jamboree is a rare opportunity for the Girl Scouts to take a more positive look at our rich cultural heritage - the great men and women who reminded us of what is best in our heritage.

The Scouting Movement taught us that only faith ,strong determination plus prayer will       overcome all these trails and difficulties in life . Thus , as director of sub-camp Tandang Sora , I'm asking the scouts to mirror and follow the footsteps of the heroes who ignited the flame for the
country's fight for independence and to continue the good work of building a nation that is strong and united.

It is with profound joy that I convey my sincere felicitations to all the Scouts organizers and participants of the Centennial Jamboree this January of 1998. The significance of such undertaking, whose theme is " Heroes for Tomorrow," cannot be underestimated particularly in its desire to commemorate the Centennial of Philippine Independence.

Every nation, for it to be truly free and united, will continue to need heroes. Thus, a sincere effort to celebrate the Centennial of the Independence of the Filipino Nation cannot but make us all realize the need for new heroes: heroes whose word is their bond, who seek honor rather than fame, and are marked by an enthusiastic and constant readiness to serve God and the Nation.

It is my prayer that the Centennial Jamboree may not only be a meeting of dreams and talents, but also an occasion where the noble aspirations may be formulated; an opportunity where new heroes may stand out  and the realization of the noble goals may commence through a corporate effort.

MAy the Lord, the Master of All Creation, bless you all and your noble endeavors. I commend you to the intercession of Our Blessed Mother, Nuestra Señora de Peñafrancia, who during her life manifested constant and humble readiness in following the will of God.
