Overview - Sugarloaf Reservoir was developed during the late 1970's to helpsupplement Melbourne's drinking water supply. Unlike many other of Melbourne's water storage's, which draw water directly from protected forested catchments, Sugarloaf is fed by the Maroondah Aqueduct and Yarra River near Yering Gorge. Upon leaving the reservoir, water is thoroughly treated at Winneke Water Treatment Plant to world Health organization guidelines before it reaches Melbourne's domestic water supply system.
