Jeremy chose, as his Eagle Project, to build a permanent 34 foot high "L" on the hillside above Laguna Beach High School.
This "L" is the symbol of the spirit and loyalty that Laguna High students feel toward their school and their community. This local monument has existed on this hillside above the High School for over twenty years.
It was originally constructed with sandbags and painted rocks. As such, it was vulnerable to the ravages of time, weather, erosion and vandalism.
Jeremy, with the enthusiastic support of the school administrators and the community, re-created this symbol with a permanence that will be enjoyed and admired for years to come.
He compeleted his project in August 1998.

Proud of a job well done.
Now, the real work starts.
All the materials had to transported up to the Mystic Hills area, unloaded, and, then, carried down this trail to the work site.
The path gets steep as it leads down to a small picnic area.
The picnic table was used as a staging area before continuing down the REALLY steep part of the hillside that leads to the work site.

The first step was to clear away the remains of the old "L". The work site was MUCH steeper than it looks in this pictue.
The next step involves building the frame and attaching it to the steel pipes that were driven into the ground.
The white covering is attached to the frame to form the thirty-four foot "L".
This is the same picture, but a higher level of compression. It takes less disk space, and, probably, takes less time to down load.
This is a hazy picture of the finished project, as seen from the high school tennis courts. (It actually looks much bigger when you see it in person.)
