Julia and I met online in November 1997 through the American Personals website.  At that time I lived in Sioux Lookout in northwestern Ontario, Canada and Julia lived in St. Petersburg Russia.  We became a couple in January 1998 and our first meeting was in St. Petersburg, Russian when I came for a visit in August 1998.  During that August visit I proposed to Julia.  In the fall of 1998 I applied for a fiance visa for Julia and after a successful visa approval process, Julia arrived in Toronto, Canada on July 3, 1999. Our wedding was on July 17, 1999 in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

At the time Julia and I got married, I still lived and worked in Sioux Lookout.  The plan was that we would live in Sioux Lookout for a few months until I would be transferred by my employer (IFNA Engineers Ltd.) to their new office in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  However, events things got sped up quite dramatically when my employer went bankrupt in August of 1999 .  What a great start!  Six weeks after we got married I was already out of a job.   But not for long.  By the end of August 1999, Julia and I moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba where myself and six other guys started up a new engineering company.  The new company was called Eagle Engineering and we picked up a number of the clients that my fomer employer had left stranded when it went broke.
