Zirbel and I took a day out to go hike up towards Buck lake in the early Spring. It was a beautiful day as we trodged up the slushy slopes not really knowing exactly where Buck lake was. But someone had laid the trail before us. We found it still covered in snow surrounded by some good slopes. Next time we'll bring our skis. As we decided to head down, something told us to check the slope's stability before we hiked down. So both of us made a perfect little snowball, gently threw it on the slope only to hear the snow come slushing down. We had made our own little avalanche. It was just one of those powerful sights and sounds of nature. As we hiked down the slide, we were amazed at the size of snowballs the snow had compacted into. Glad we didn't get caught up in it all.
