Today winds down our trip with only a short, gradually sloped 15 km hike to the Pallas hotel. We were really blessed on this day to see 200-300 reindeer that were traveling together as a herd. (too bad the pictures did not turn out well :(
I would also like to explain the appropriateness of the blueberry background. There were still many berries growing at the time of our hike, especially blueberries. Therefore we would stop many times along the way to enjoy them :)
Anyway to continue, here you can see the type of sign system used to direct hikers along
the trail. You might be able to see the sign (middle, right) that says Pallas 15.
We stopped briefly to rest at one of the small shelters along the trail, by suggestion of an older man that we met earlier along the trail. This man was warming up for cross-country skiing by walking this trail with his ski poles. The most surprising thing is that we were able to understand a few things from him with our little knowledge of finnish, that was all he spoke. In finnish this shelter is called "kota," and we knew that word amoung others. From this kota we saw the first reindeer of the day.

After some time we climbed the next fjell and took our last look at what we had hiked before rounding the bend. The white hill in the distance (center) is the first fjell that we crossed.
