Grandma Johnson's Family Apple Cake
from 1922
4 cups apples (peeled and chopped)
2 cups sugar (pour over apples and let stand one hour)
2 cups sifted flour (sift twice)
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1/2 cup oil
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup nuts (optional)
Sift dry ingredients again and add to apples.
Then add all other ingredients to apple mixture and stir until well blended.
Preheat oven to 350 Degrees F.
Bake in greased 13x9x2" pan for 45 to 50 minutes.
