Report=I was fortunate this year to be able to fish the "pre-opener" wednesday at Irvine Lake. This was a non-public event held for friends and sponsors of the lake. I do their website also so I was invited to join in. Awesome day. Limits were easy fishing from shore on my secret little spot on the west shore. We also trolled most of the day looking for big ones but found none. at lunch time we had learned that the "big ones" were coming on a truck and should be there by 1:00. We decided to fish my secret spot again and then finished the end of the day by the launch ramp to see if the big ones had been stocked and were biting yet. They had been stocked all-right. There were 10-pounders jumping out of the water everywhere. They weren't biting yet and were still dazed and confused from the long ride down from Mt. Lassen. By tommorrow, they should be hungry and biting. You guys fishing the opener tomorrow should have an awesome day. Green powerbait seemed to work the best although I did get a few trolling a needlefish at 4 colors of leadcore. We left at 4:30 pm and there was already half-a-dozen cars lined up for the 6 a.m. opener.
