Report=Expensive day fishing but loads of fun. Started off at Irvine Lake, 6:30 am -Trout Island. Had a limit by 10:30. Fishing was good for me but noticed no one else catching much. (Kickntrout scores again) Found out that they did not stock this week, won't be another plant until next week. All fish were on powerbait, nightcrawler rod got hit once and broke-off. day was still early so went to Laguna Niguel. They supposedly stocked tues. night so you would think that everybody would be knocking them dead. Wrong. I fished from 12:00 to 4:30 and still managed a limit but it was not wide-open for anybody. Most people had one or two from fishing all day. My third trout was full of roe and once I put that on for bait, the next two came rather quickly. I have noticed that this year, none of the Irvine trout have eggs but the Utah-raised L.N. trout are full of them. Eggs (roe) make excellent bait and no add-on fish scent is needed. Try not to break the sack apart. Cut small pieces with a sharp knife and carefully put on a small treble hook. Flyline or use a small weight. Cast carefully, this stuff falls off easily. Works awesome. If have caught many trout this way, particularly large males. Anyways as for L.N. I'm not sure if they stocked here either. If they did, most of the fish are still hiding. Doesn't look too good at either lakes for this weekend guys. Maybe SARL is the best bet. P.S. About a 10-pound bass came up and checked out the trout that I had on my stringer. We scared the hell out of eachother!
