Report=Awesome day for my 9 yr old daughter, ok day for me. My daughter Taryn starts the day off with a #40 bluefin on #20 test that battled her for at least 1/2 hour and took her around the boat twice. Except for some assistance going around the bow by the deckhand, she muscled the fat bluefin up practically all by herself!! I then hook a #15 bluefin that looks like a baby compared to hers. That was the first stop of the day and the best. After that my daughter stops the boat with a single hookup on the troll. This one she cranked in all by herself, doing exactly as I told her, "Put the rod against the rail and let the fish do the work." She did exactly that, leanig back and reeling down., bringing the fish all the way to the gaff. This turned out to be a #20 albacore!! All right kid, you've had enough fun, now it's daddy's turn to catch some fish. Yeah right!! The next stop was another single jig strike with only one hookup on the slide and that was me using a Fish Trap swimbait on #20 test. mistake. I just stood there and watched as every bit of my line peeled off of my fully loaded reel. (Quantum XR6 hold 165 yds of #20). When it got to the end it just went snap!! like a firecracker. All this took place in about 30 seconds! Capt Mike said there were some very big fish in the area, yesterday they had a fish hung on #25 test for well over an hour before busting off without ever seeing color. I then switched to the fishtrap with #40 test but the boat never stopped on the troll again. Wasn't done farming yet though! We stopped on a nice paddy with marks underneath. I was one out of two to hook up here. The first fish went right into the paddy and busted off, probably yellowtail. Mine went deep and ran hard, probably another big bluefin. Eventually I get tangled into some lines and that was the end of that. No more stops for the rest of the day. We ended up with 20 albacore and 8 bluefin for 26 anglers. Not a great day but not bad either. Crew works very hard.

Rating=Good

My daughter's first bluefin and she can't even hold it up by herself!!

21.7 pound albacore. Possible world record for her age.
