Report: Sorry for the late report. Started off heading to SARL in the morning to fish the tournament. Got there around 5:30 and noticed a "zoo" of people and cars already at the lake. Screw this, we headed to Irvine. Quite a few people there also but not nearly as bad as SARL. We got a boat and found out they had just planted that morning, all big ones. Fshed right by the end of trout "Point" (peviously Trout Island) where they had stocked. Saw a few 10+ pounders break the surface and swim under the boat but none were interested in our jigs or bait. We then trolled and i got a 2-pounder right away then nothing for the next hour or so. Went back to trout point and soaked the baits for a few rats. One guy on shore (in a wheelchair) landed a 8 or 9 pounder around 10 am. Around 1pm some guys pull up to the dock with three nice "Lloyds" and a bunch of rats. They said they got them in Santiago Flats, so we headed there and soaked and jigged for only one bite which was missed. Several other boats in the area were catching a few and already had nice stringers. Called it a day at 2pm and headed in. Fishing was good for most boaters but for us and the shore anglers, it was poor. We spent too much time in the stocking area waiting for them to "turn on" when we should have been in the flats. Still lots of fish in here but the water is warming. Boaters seem to be doing better than shore anglers. Saw a couple of big crappie taken off the boat dock by lake employees. What a tough job they have....
