Report: Had a great day fishing with Joel and Jeff Barbee on the Vamos. We headed out to the 60 mile bank after a hot tip from a neighboring boat. (Thanks "Chula"). The first fish hit the deck at 6:30 am and we had pretty consistant action after that. Nice sized albies up to 30 pounds, although we did score a couple of "footballs" around 6 pounds. We finished the day with 18 albies for the four of us. Lots of bluefin seen in the area but they were line and boat shy for us. They were boiling on the pinhead anchovies but did not want our sardines or chrome. I sure hope the Everingham Bros. (bait guys) have some 'chovies for us next time!! Much thanks to Jason on the "Sea Shepard" for buddy boating with us way out there and to Jeff and Joel Barbee for inviting us to fish with them while the Breeze Bayou undergoes some repairs.
