Report: Had a great day fishing aboard the Conquest yesterday. Things started out slow with only a few skipjack and a single yellowfin taken on the troll. We then get called onto a hot paddy by the "First String", who already made several passes at it. As we arrived, skipper Joel positioned us up wind from the kelp so it would drift across our stern. As soon as we got near it, the dorado and yellowtail charged the boat. We pulled a few from unser it and as we drifted further away, the yellowfin charged. Small anchovies on very light line (#15) was the hot ticket for these, although I did take a couple on a small chrome jig fished on #20. After a couple more passes at the kelp, the fish were getting very line shy so we left them in search of new meat. We never found them but we ended with a nice count from that paddy. I'm not sure what the total was but I put 5 tuna, 3 dorado and one yellowtail in my sack. This was a J.E.S. Sportfishing (jessportfishing.com) charter, so the food was awesome (grilled chicked breast sandwiches for lunch and ribeye steak for dinner)and there were lots of great prizes for raffle. Jamie puts on a great trip. I would highly recommend going on one of his charters. The crew of the Conquest are some of the best in the business and Skipper Joel has a great sense of humor and is an absolute pleasure to fish with.
