Report: Arrived friday night at Cachuma and got a campsite so we could get on the lake early. That didn't work out like planned because the boat didn't want to start when we were ready to launch. Went back up to the parking lot and charged the battery for a little while with jumper cables. Tried again and that didn't work so we went to the marina and asked them if they had a battery for sale. Lucky for us they had one deep cycle battery for sale. We were thinking $100+ for this thing, but the guy says $81.95 and we say sold! started fishing about 8 a.m. in Cachuma bay. The bite is slow for us in the flats (12-15 feet) but we noticed some guys towards the shoreline in 20 feet banging them. They left about 10:30 and we rushed their spot and started banging them also. All DFG stockers 1 to 1.5 pounders, very healthy with lots of spunk. We limited by 3:30 and headed in. Got to the cleaning dock and noticed others had done very good also. Most were fishing towards the east end and around the island. There were also lots of redear caught by others but none for us. Fly-lined night crawlers seemed to be the hot ticket for those. This lake is a long drive for me but it has always been well worth it.
