Report: Went down to San Diego to fish with Jason on his boat "Sea Shepard". We were planning a trip to Rosarito for yellows but found out the bite had died down there so we opted to get some bonito up at La Jolla instead. Picked up a nice scoop of 'chovies for bait and headed north. The bite started out slow but after about 11 am it turned on with lots of 2-pound bonito cruising through and smacking our fly-lined anchovies. We had plenty of hookups but not too many boated due to the theiving seals and my less than 1-year old #12 test Trilene which seemd to snap on every hookup. This is my second bad experience with Trilene and I will never buy it again. Between my line snapping, the birds robbing our bait and the seals stealing our catch it was a pretty tough day fishing but still had lots of fun as always. We also saw a few pods of grey whales making the trip to Baja. Thanks Jason for inviting us fishing, we'll get those yellows next time!
