Are You Ready for High Adventure?

Boy Scout Troop 338 is an active outdoor Troop. The Troop meets at the First United Methodist Church of Cocoa Beach on Monday nights from 7:00 to 8:30. The Church, located on the Banana River, is about a mile south of Ron Jons in Cocoa Beach, Florida and approx. 5 miles north of the Patrick Air Force Base. We meet in Eschtruth Hall and store troop equipment in a garage on the premises. Troop equipment includes 5 canoes, three sail boards, and a canoe trailer.

Troop 338 has a camping activity almost every month. Campouts included canoe trips in the Banana River, several over night campouts at Central Florida springs, a camping trip to Fort Clinch and 50 mile backpacking trips. 50 mile trips have taken place on the Appalachian Trail and Ocala National Park. We have attended Summer Camp at Camp Thunder (in Georgia) and Camp La No Che (in Florida) Scout Camps. Summer Camp this year is at Daniel Boone in North Carolina.

Other Troop activities include a trip to see the Orlando Solar Bears Ice Hockey Team play and a visited to Water Mania. In past years, we have visited submarines and local ships in the port (a research ship, the Vanguard and a Coast Guard ship, the Vigilant and more).

The scouts in our troop live all over the area. We have Scouts that live on Merritt Island, Cape Canaveral, Cocoa Beach and Patrick Air Force Base. Currently, the Troop consists of 5 Scouters, 2 Tenderfoots, 3 Second Class, 3 First Class, 3 Star, a Life and a Eagle Scout. Troop 338 has 5 Order of the Arrow Members.
