Troop 338 News
Scouting for Food
Boy Scout Troop 338 and Cub Scout Pack 358 had a successful
Scouting for Food drive on November 11th. 5,000 Scouting for
Food bags were distributed door to door in Cocoa Beach and
Canaveral on NOV 4th. On Nov 11th, the scouts collected the
filled bags left on the doorsteps. The combined effort of these
Scouts collected 4758 items of food. The food filled the Troop
trailer and two pickups. The approximant weight of this was 1-1/2
tons. Scouting For Food is a Central Florida Council event.
Uniting many Troops in one common Community Service Project.
The combined effort by the Troop and Pack, traditionally, collects
more food than any other units. The Local District Scouting For
Food Drive accounts for approximately 1/3 of the yearly food
distributed to needy families by local food banks. I would like
to thank all those who participated in making this a successful
event.
