Personal Protection Classes


AAF&G offers a personal protection and self defense course which utilizes a program written and produced by the NRA. This course is designed to introduce the novice to the handgun, emphasizing safe handling and proper storage of firearms. The program is conducted in a casual, friendly atmosphere, so that a student's initial apprehension towards firearms is converted to a basic understanding and a healthy respect.

The instructional staff includes a police officer, an attorney, and NRA Certified Firearms Instructors. Our staff encourages student discussion, and covers the topics step by step, in a complete and comprehensive manner. The class curriculum includes:

This course is conducted over three sessions, Tuesday & Thursday from 6:30 to 9:30 pm, and Saturday from 9:00 am until 2:30 pm. It is open to those age 18 and over (limited to a maximum of 20 students per class). Fees for the course are $60 per person, $100 per married couple, and $30 per person for members of AAF&G. This fee is all inclusive, covering the course book, meals, ammunition and the use of a firearm. A certificate of completion is awarded to the student upon successful completion of the course.
