We started the ride at the Old Erie Canal Village which is on Rt. 46 about three miles from Rome. The village is across the bridge and the canal boat is used for tourist trips. The web site has information on three small museums and other buildings in the village. The village really had the look of an old canal town and was well worth visiting. There were few people visiting when we were there but it is now under new management and may be busier.
