The Age of the Party Animal

And now you face another year
Of endles parties all night long
Of staggering to your favourite song
But one word of warning I'd like to say
It starts in a little way
Like when you say, not today
I'm tired and I need my sleep
I'll save the parties for next week
So take a look in the mirror and you
might just see
The party animal you used to be.

The days of youth are long since gone
And no one plays your favourite song
Because it is no longer cool or in
But a perfect example of a has been

Your friends changed I fear to say
And no longer talk about a lay
Or drink or drugs or the waves today
But Chatter on and off about mortgages and bank books
When your friends gasp about shapes and looks
It's not a girl that leaves them cold
It's how their investments unfolds.

Sex is no longer with whom and where
Or about rips and tears
But now coonsidered quite nice
Once a week on Thursdays at 3 to be precise

Age is something which can't be fled
But day by day its need is fed
To make of you what you fear
To be just like your parents dear
So don't deny or try to fight
And maybe you will find the light
And settle down to play backgammon
On those rainy days
And with nostalgia reminisce
About the days that you once had
When everyone was party mad!
