TThe day started off pretty sunny (at least in Sudbury) when I left for work. Pulled into the parking lot around 8:30 am to find Nina already there. We both packed our stuff in the van and went to sign in. I left to say my good-byes to everyone. The rest of the crew showed up by 9:00 or so and we finished packing the van. At 10:00 am we were on the road, Nina, Phil and Rob in the van, Laura in her car.

We stopped at Rob's house for a quick visit to get some stuff (most of which we forgot) then to Nina's to get more stuff. After a quick visit with Nina's folks, off to Paceys.

After the doughnut fiasco with Josh at Tim Hortens, we left for camp. Phil almost suffered a heart attack in the van and surprisingly it wasn't because of Rob's driving.

At 1:00 we make it to Rob's family cottage. Introductions all around and lunch. We ate like people with no grocery/food money for a week. Even scammed a care package from grandma. Nina, Phil, and Rob went for a walk with Dakota, Laura caught up after. Showed Laura the huge erratic pudding stone by old Fort Knox.

We took off for the Sault afterwards and didn't feel like supper so we kept going to Wawa.

During the drive to the Sault discussion turned to the possibility of heading as far west as possible while in Kenora and trying to get in a few days of paddling in Atikokan. Rob requested his paddle be delivered to him so he could go. Hopefully it'll get here before we leave Thunder Bay.

We make Wawa at 7:00 through showers and fog (why is the weather always shitty when I go UP to Wawa never back from?) and Bryan shows up just as we start to unload the van. We decide we can't do the reception, so we go to the restaurant down the street (the Bird) and eat supper. We move over to the bar where the "Old geezers" - Rob and Laura take on "the young 'uns" - Nina and Phil in a few games of pool. Wasn't drunk enough so we lost 3-2. Next time.

Rob and Laura go back to the hotel and end up talking for most of the wee hours of the morning. At the time of this writing, Nina and Phil are still AWOL
