Movie: The Legend of Drunken Master
Director: Lau Ka Leung
Starring: Jackie Chan, Andy Lau, Anita Mui, Lau Ka Leung and Ti Lung
What it's about: Chan is the son of a teacher and medicine man in a Chinese village. Chan is also a master of a fighting style known as Drunken Boxing. He mistakenly takes a box of priceless Chinese art that is being smuggled out of the country by the British Ambassador and joins in the fight to return his countries history to it's rightful owners.
What I thought: Jackie Chan at his best. He was his usual funny, acrobatic self and this time he wasn't the only star of the movie.

Although Chan was amazing, perhaps the best acting performance goes to the woman who plays his stepmother. Her acting was absolutely hysterical at every turn. Her facial expressions really enhanced her "moods" and her character, a feisty and manipulative woman who looks out for the well being of her adoptive son and husband's reputation. She wasn't bad in any way but she had her husband wrapped around her finger.

But Chan was a member of the cast and his performance was no less stunning. He played the Drunken Boxer so well that even his facial expressions made him look drunk as he staggered around beating the daylights out of anyone against him. But it was the fight scenes (as usual) that made the movie. Jackie took on an entire room of people this time and was incredible. The action sequences were mind boggling and so smooth it must have taken months to get the choreography down pat.

So why the rating? It was an awesome Jackie Chan movie. He didn't direct it this time around but it would have been just as good if he had been behind the camera for this one. Perhaps his best one yet (though I haven't seen Shanghai Noon yet and hear it's awesome too) and the cast with him were great as well. I laughed when I was supposed to and ducked and dodged when I thought I should have.
