Movie: Men of Honour
Director: George Tillman Jr
Starring: Robert De Niro, Cuba Gooding Jr., Charlize Theron, Michael Rapaport, Hal Holbrook
What it's about: The true story of black Navy Diver Carl Brashear and how he overcame prejudice, the loss of one leg, and other hardships to become the first black Master Diver.
What I thought: Perhaps the greatest telling of a true story of all time. It was riveting, exciting, and very powerful. If even half of the events that happened in the movie had happened in real life Carl Brashear is one amazing person.

De Niro was his usual incredible self, playing Master Chief Sunday, the diving instructor who inspired Brashear to become a diver in the first place. He played the racist chief to a "T" and gave a stirring performance at the end of the movie when both his and Brashear's career were on the line.

Cuba also did an amazing job playing the Navy Diver. His reactions to the actions of his fellow trainees was bang on (or at least what I think they would be since I wasn't there) and you can tell that he really researched his role by talking to Mr. Brashear at length to find out reactions, actions and other little things to make the movie just so WOW.

So why the rating? Well first off it's a true story of the triumph of the human spirit, stirred the blood, and was just so well done that I couldn't give it any other rating. This is most definitely one of the must see movies of the year and trust me, I'll be buying this one for my personal collection.
