Prussic Peak, Enchantments, Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area, Washington State

This is Prussic Peak with a small circ in the foreground taken in August of 1993.   Polarizer pulled out the deep blue sky even at mid afternoon.

A beautiful alpine lake below Prussic Peak pulled out deep greens in the water and deep blue in the sky with a polarizer.

This goat spent the afternoon with us on the summit at around 6,000 feet on this beautiful April day.

During my hike with Christie 5 years ago, we saw thousands of acres of blue lupines - so many that Christie sneezed for hours.

Spray Falls is located on the south east end of Spray Park.  This falls is approximately 180 feet tall.

This lake is 25 miles into the interior of the park, accessible from 3 different directions.  Mount Duckabush rises in the background.  I took this solo hike about 4 years ago in July, carrying 60 pounds over 50 miles with 10,000 total feet of elevation gain.

Wildflowers grow profusely in July at Paradise.  Here, Bearclaw is seen only inches from the camera lense, utilizing full depth-of-field.

This is the view seen during the first day climb up to Camp Muir - basecamp for climbing Mount Rainier.

Hey, that's me up on the Nisqually Glacier near Camp Muir at 10,000 feet.  The glacier in the background was avalanching about every 15 minutes!

This was a beautiful chunck of ice sitting over a crevasse with the sunlight cutting through the clouds and into the crevace.

This is the first lake we passed by on our way into Marmot Lake and Jade Lake.   Mount Daniels is in the background.  This was a beautiful still summer morning with the lake like glass.  Spectacular!

Possibly the most beautiful and spectacular lake in the Alpine Lakes region is Jade Lake.   It's a 9 mile hike into Marmot Lake, and then a 2 mile scramble up to Jade, a total of 5000 feet in elevation.  Jade Glacier feeds into the lake, creating a beautiful milky blue color in the lake.

Vertical shot with wildflowers in foreground.  These shots are difficult because you have to set the depth of field at such a high f-stop and low shutter speed, that any small breeze causes the flowers to blur.  This one took great patience while stooped in an awkward position.  This place is heaven!

The climb up Jade Glacier above Jade Lake exposes this spectacular view of Lynch Glacier and an unnamed lake.   The lake is about 1 mile in diameter, possibly 1000 feet deep, and this photo was taken in late August, with floating snowfields still in the lake!

This lake is also reached from the Cle Elum side.  It is split almost in half by a long peninsula in the center, with an excellent campsite.  Lema Mountain is in the background.

Sunrise with water like glass.  This 5 second time exposure with polarizer was taken at 5:30 AM, when I awoke to one of the most beautiful days a person could ever ask for.
