& Teach'n Da Motorcycle Racing

California Superbike School Instructor.

What a unique opportunity to ride on over 12 racetracks across our great country.

Endless lap after endless lap on somebody else’s motorcycle (ZX600) following and passing students, teaching proper race lines and being challenged by the hot shots. Can you believe I used to get paid to do it.

The way C.S.S. operated was to schedule a school following a major Race weekend. We would arrive on Thursday or Friday, setup our displays then watch the weekend races. On Monday, Tuesday and sometimes Wednesdays following the race we would teach our school.

Our home track was Willow Springs International Raceway followed by Sears Point Raceway and then my personal favorite Laguna Seca, any event there was big.

Laguna Seca Raceway was a great opportunity to watch some of the worlds best pro racers at the USGP. After the race weekend we would then get the opportunity to ride on the track at some 50 to 60 seconds slower than the pros lapped it.
"I loved it".

My second personal favorite track was Road Atlanta this is the only track where I reached speeds over 135mph just to go off the track obtain a pucker factor of 10+ and still maintain enough control to recover and ride back on the track.

Road Atlanta also introduced me to Scott Russell who gave me some personal lessons by letting me lead for several laps and then follow him. This helped me improve my personal riding skills so much I cut 5 seconds off my personal best at Road Atlanta in just a matter of 15 to 18 laps (Thanks Scott).

During this same weekend I was able to witness both Doug Chandler and Doug Poland break Road Atlanta's lap record together duling for 1st place.
That was the type of race that you could feel vibrate deep in your chest and throat. Definitely one memory I can still feel to this day.

Another memorable teaching experiance came during a race weekend at Moroso Motorsports Park in Palm Beach Florida Where I had the opportunity to room with two time 250cc. U.S. Champion Donnie Green. He was invited by Keith Code to be a guest instructor for two days. At this track I was able to ride for two hour stints rest and back out again chasing Donnie!!!!

Tough life huh!!!
