Walk: Great Gable, Green Gable Brandreth, Grey Knotts
Group: 4 people
Weather: Cold, snow and strong winds
Distance: 18km
Comments: I had driven up to Borrowdale with Steve and Michaela to meet Phil who had been staying in Keswick. The day was quite pleasant, the wind was blowing but did not look to be problematic. We started the day debating whether we would do Scafell and left the decision until we had gone past the trout farm and got up to Sprinkling Tarn. We decided that we would do a slightly shorter walk not least because Steve and Michaela were going sking the following week so we didn't want to tire them out.
There was snow underfoot as we ascended from Sprinkling Tarn to Great Gable. There was some nice views from the summit although soemone did comment that with the snow underfoot I should proably be wearing more than shorts. As we walked down towards windy gap we met up with a group from Manchester university Hiking Club, we briefly chatted with them before heading up to Green Gable.
The weather remained pleasant and we walked across the plain that constitutes Brandreth and Grey Knotts. We descended down to the Youth Hostel and then walked down the path. we met up with the other people from the Hiking Club in the pub and stayed their for a while before heading back to Manchester.
