Walk: Pen y Gent and Plover Hill

Group: 5 people

Weather: Cold, wet and windy

Distance:

Comments: This was the first walk since returning from Scotland at New Year. The day started fairly well and we went for a bacon butty in the cafe at Horton. The traditional starting point of the Three Peaks walk. This was the first time that i had done Pen y gent on a route other than the three peaks. In order to make the route slightly longer we looked to walk the entire ridge line rather than the direct ascent. The wind built slwoly but had grown to full strength by the time we reached the summit.

From the summit we continued along the ridge, by this time the mist had closed in and the rain started. We walked across the ridge to Plover Hill. From Plover hill we decended to the Pennine Way and followed this route back to Horton.
