Day Fished: 12-24-2000

Bait / Lures Used: P.B., trout roe

Water Temp.: cold

Water Color: Clear

Fished From: Shore

Report: Got to the lake just after 5 am, 8th car in line. Bought a permit and walked to my usual spot on the backside. Had four trout on the stringer before I could even rig up my second pole. All on PB. Caught my limit by 7:30 and went back for another permit. Got back on the spot and banged another right away. I am thinking this is too easy and then someone turned off the switch. The bite completly shut down for everyone. Around 11:30 I still have only 1 trout on the stringer (other 5 in the car on ice). She was looking fat so I cut her open to see if there was any roe inside. She was loaded with eggs. Switched both poles to roe and it was on. Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! at 2 pm I was reeling in my second limit. Only bummer is that when I went to put him on the stringer, I noticed that one of the trout had gotton off, somehow one of the hooks on the stringer came undone. Probably could have caught another but I was ready to leave anyway. It was a great day on the lake. Lots of people limited but I think I'm the only one who got a "double". The trout seemed a little smaller on the average this time. I got a couple 2-pounders but most were 1 to 1.5. Quite a few had eggs and I'm going to try some at Irvine on tues.

Rating: Excellent
