Day 27:Saturday November 2nd Kathmandu After breakfast we just sat around for awhile. I took a film across the street to have it developed. They told me it would be ready after 5pm. They have good automated developing equipment here. We waited for Pauline's telephone call from home and then went shopping. Bought a blouse. Hard to find anything suitable.
At five o'clock I went to pick up my pictures and met Chrissey from California on the street. On way back to hotel took a wrong turn again. Retraced my steps to find my way as it was nearly dark and I wanted to be back by 6.00pm. Ram was at hotel to pick us up to go to dinner at his place before I got back. Seemed to meet everyone we had met on the trek at sometime in Kathmandu. We went to his room through a short cut down an alley. Rents a room for 2000 rs a month with a communal kitchen. Hari, his uncle and his brother share it with him. His father in-law was there also to do some business with some Europeans who were interested in giving funding to villages for schooling. We had bought a bottle of wine. Not enough. Sent out for pop and some local wine. We sat on the floor and ate some delicious goat meat with a spicy sauce. Then we were served the Dahl Bhat. It was the best I had eaten. They presented us with the white traditional scarves. In turn we gave them a traditional Canadian hug. Ram and Hari had to be at Himalayan Waves to meet their next clients and Ram Ji, ram"s younger brother walked us back to the hotel. I don't think we could have found our way alone. We had just got to our room when Ram Ji and Hari came back with the pictures of Anjana that Ram had forgotten to give us. I have committed to help Ram send Anjana, his daughter to an English Boarding School in Kathmandu. Ram Ji is going to university (being helped financially by a European) and is studying law. He is 21 years old and also guides. As charming and good looking or more so than Ram. His English is quite good and he can also read and write English. Ram is still struggling to do this. Very intelligent people.
