The Eyelash Viper

The eyelash viper is a neotropical pit viper, their natural habitat is shrubs and brushes in low elevation wet forest from Chiappas, Mexico, Central America, Columbia Ecuador and Venezuela. They are nocturnal and prey upon small mammals, birds, lizards and frogs.
The eyelash viper grips the food firmly until the venom has been dispatched into the prey. They will often suspend in mid air by their prehensile tail during this process. One distinctive feature of the eyelash viper is the enlarged scale (supraciliarie) above each eye.
