In the town of West Newton, like many other towns, there is a bicycle store near the trail and a restaurant has a sign to attract trail users. When the final gap in the route to Washington is closed, the trail will become more and more heavily used and will probably have a greater economic impact on the towns along it. Too bad that at the present time there may be cut backs in the suppport for Rails to Trails, when they will probably be even more important in the future not just for the people using them but for the economies of small towns along the way. The towns here seemed to take pride in the trail and many volunteers helped to make an enjoyable journey for cyclists.
