East Bay Bike Path, Rhode Island

We are two cyclists in our seventies who now enjoy leisurely trips such as this one on the East Bay Bike Path between East Providence, RI. We cycled here several times, sometimes with younger cyclists in their fifties and sixties. Besides the path and its great ocean surroundings there are interesting diversions, such as Colt State Park, the Audubon Environmental Center with an entrance from the path, the Looff Carousel at the site of the former Crescent Amusement Park, and interesting ocean side towns such as Bristol which make more than one trip enjoyable.

The bike path is easy to get to: from I95 in Providence, take 195 East to Exit 4 which is Riverside/ Memorial Parkway. Follow Memorial Parkway a half mile to the bike path parking area. The Rhode Island Department of Transportation has directions to the path, a map and links to other sources of Rhode Island bicycling. Here is a link to much more detailed maps. Click this link for the most detailed information available on the path. Get a printable map by clicking on each map section. Click on the "Photos" button to see dozens of photos taken along the trail.

Here are some pictures taken on trips with our cycling companions along the path.
