Genesis 1:7 Destinies Final Test/"The Worlds Fate Rests In Your Hands"
"Shinji.....?" Rei murmured to herself. She looked over to her left and saw Shinji staring blankly at the ceiling. She gently shook him and he turned to face her. His distant look instantly vanished as tears of joy started to flow through his eyes. He hugged her tightly and kissed her. She hugged him back.
"I thought I had lost you.....it was all my fault." he said, sobbing.
"Don't say that. It wasn't your fault, and it never will be." Rei comforted him. She noticed she had a bandage around him Right arm, her forehead and left eye, and one around her left wrist.
"Satan tried to steal my soul."
"What?!"
"Your Mother rescued me, she told me to tell you the worlds fate will rest in your hands."
*1 month later*
"Unit-04 has been found and is still fully intact!"
Maya looks up at the Eva.
"Amazing I can't believe it's still intact!"
"Send out a recovery team at once! Prepare the Unit for it's first activation test immediately" said Commander Fyutski.
Commander Ikari was in a conference with the leaders of each separate branch trying to
cover up the existence of hell, therefore Commander Fyutski had taken control for the time
being.
*Ritsuko's Current Hideout*
"Well Kaede it seems you and Maya were the only ones who knew about the Enzine System Upgrade. Tell me, why didn't you inform me?"
Ritsuko sat in front of Kaede who was tied up to a chair.
"You really think you had led us on all this time *cough* don't you. Maya and I knew about Bardiel before you launched the test but we knew no one would believe us, so I uploaded the Enzine System. You have no control over the Magi, and all of it's codes have been changed."
"Why you little bitch!" Ritsuko slaps Kaede across her face so hard that Kaede spits out some blood. She then finds the tracer.
"Oh Shit!"
She ran towards the door, opening it to be staring at Misato's Gun.
"Surprise!" Misato said.
"No...."
"Dr. Ritsuko Akagi, you are under arrest for treason, kidnaping, and assault and battery."
*2 Days Later, Nerv*
Maya was watching over the recovery of Unit-04. It seemed that everything was ash except for the Unit itself, which led her to believe that someone or something was responsible for the disappearance of the second branch. However 3 days later the entire investigation of the reappearance was canceled.
'Well it seems someone is trying to keep us in the dark about this..' she thought to herself, 'there is no other reasonable explanation.'
"Hey Maya!"
Maya turned to see Hyuga waving at her.
"What?"
"We were gonna go get a couple of drinks off duty, you wanna come?"
She smiled.
"Sure why not."
"That's Great! See yah later on the bridge!"
Hyuga then left.
*Misato's Mansion*
After all that had happen the Commander was reasonable enough to let the pilots take a few days off duty, unless a Daemon were to attack. This had given Shinji time to spend with Rei. After what had happen to her the only time he wouldn't be seen right next to her would be when he was asleep and even then he would sleep right outside her door. Only Yuko and Yoshiro were still at the house. Asuka and Sushio had gone out to dinner, while Shinji and Rei went to see a movie.
"Ya know I never thought I would be so bored without them around." said Yuko.
"Yeah I know what you mean...." Yoshiro went into the kitchen, found the last drink that wasn't alcoholic, picked up his DiscMan, and sat on the couch. Yuko seeing he had the last Cola flavored soda walked over to the couch and sat down next to him. He turned off his DiscMan and looked at her. She looked first at him, then at the soda.
"May I please have some of that?"
"Sure." he handed the can to Yuko and she took a sip.
"Thank you."
*The Only Nice Restaurant in Town*
Asuka and Sushio sat gazing at each other, finding lack for use of words. Dinner hadn't been finished yet so they talked a bit and then just gazed. Sushio's thoughts were all mixed. He thought about how much he loved Asuka and how he felt about his mother and piloting Eva. Finally he thought of something to say.
"Asuka, just a few days ago, I learned my mother was still alive."
"What? How?"
Asuka was shocked at first, since he hadn't told her about it until now.
"I learned she was under protection by the Chinese Special Forces, but she chose to contact my sister instead. At first I was angry and upset, but I understand now, only my sister could hear her."
"What do you mean?" Asuka asked, curiously.
"She and my sister have a more advanced version of telepathy than mine. I can only talk in short range while they can talk in long distance."
"Oh....."
Just then the waiter walked up to their table holding a platter with fine German food as it's
contents.
*The Movie Theater*
The movie ended and a small crowed exited the building. Among them were Rei and Shinji. Since it was cold Shinji draped his jacket around Rei's shoulders to keep her warm as they walked home. They stopped at a cliff side to sit down and watch the stars.
"They're so beautiful," Rei said, "aren't they."
"Yes they are, but nothing is as beautiful as you."
They kissed each other deeply and passionately.
'I'm not going to lose her.' thought Shinji, firmly.
They walked home with Shinji's arm over Rei's shoulders.
*Misato's Mansion*
Shinji and Rei walked in to find the T.V. was on. Shinji went over to turn it off when he noticed Yoshiro and Yuko sleeping on the couch. Yuko's head was resting on Yoshiro's should and his arm was around her waist.
"Oops." he whispered to himself, as quietly turned off the T.V.
He walked to the Kitchen where Rei had a glass of water in her hand. He got himself a glass and they both drank.
"Well I see Yuko and Yoshi have shown their feelings towards each other." She said smiling.
"Yeah, but you probably shouldn't call him Yoshio, I don't think he likes that nickname."
"What's not to like?" Rei asked in confusion.
"Well if you were named after a fictional Green Dinosaur you'd feel the same way!"
"Oh...." Rei said, embarrassed. She let out a shy laugh.
PenPen waddled out of his fridge and started to head for the nearest bathroom. Rei saw this and rushed after him.
"Oh no you don't!" She called as she raced him to the room. Unfortunately for her, he had a head start. He locked the door as soon as he got in.
Rei grumbled about her bad luck and walked back to the kitchen to find Shinji putting the
glasses in the dishwasher. He didn't bother to ask why that happened since he had
witnessed it before.
*2 Hours Later*
A groggy Misato walked into the house fallowed by a even groggier Kaede.
"Remind me never to go bar hopping with you again!" said Kaede before falling on a couch, luckily she was in a different room the Yoshiro and Yuko.
"Oh shut up!" said Misato as she half dragged, half pushed Kaede up to her room.
"Hey Lay off will yah!"
"Well maybe if I wasn't so drunk, that would be possible!"
Misato then shoved Kaede into her room, closed her door and staggered to her own room. as soon as she got in she staggered over to her bed and fell asleep almost instantly.
However she and Kaede's little parade had woken up everyone else.
"God damn I wish she would be quiet when she does that!" Shinji muttered to himself. As he tried to get back to sleep. Down the stairs Yoshiro woke up suddenly.
"Man I hate it when they go bar hopping!" He muttered to himself. Yuko was still asleep, so Yoshiro gently picked her up and carried her to her room. He put her in her bed and gave her a light kiss on the cheek. Carefully he walked back to his own room.
Luckily for Asuka she was so tired, nothing could wake her up, likewise for Sushio. Everything was beginning to settle when the city wide alarm started ringing.
"Oh Shit! Not another one!!" Shouted Yoshiro as he awoke again.
"GET YOUR ASSES DOWN HERE NOW WE GOT AN ATTACK SITUATION!!!!!!!!!!" Shouted Misato who's head was still buzzing slightly.
Yoshiro told Misato he would drive and since Misato was in no mood to argue so she simply said, "Sure."
Yoshiro asked everyone to put on there seat belts.
"Just drive! We don't have time to waste!!" Shouted Asuka.
"Well I warned you..."
He pulled into reverse and let the engine roar as he pulled a 180 and drove off to Headquarters like a speed demon. He got to the parking lot in 5 minutes and hit a speed bump letting the car jump and land with a thump. He then pulled a sharp stop in the car tram. As soon as he entered the tram brought them down to the main headquarters in 1 minute. The pilots rushed off to get suited up except for Misato, Kaede, and Rei who all ran to the Main Bridge at the Second Announcement place.
"The Target has been spotted just outside of the Tokai District!"
"What a surprise..."
"Evangelion Unit 01 is currently the only available Unit."
"What!!??"
"Units 02, 05, 06 and 07 are still under repairs. Their armor wouldn't hold well against the Daemon's particle beam lance."
The Daemon was hideous. It looked like a large snake, with legs, arms, and wings. It carried with it a lance made of particle beams.
"Unit-01 has been moved to the launch pad!"
"Are you sure the other Evas aren't suitable for this?"
"Unfortunately, yes." Said Maya as she looked at the main screen, the Daemon was approaching at a steady pace.
Misato glared at the picture of the approaching Daemon.
"Eva launch." she said firmly.
Unit-01 was jettisoned to the surface. Unknown to the bridge crew Rei had disappeared. She stole off to the locker rooms where she got into her plug suit and carefully moved to a secret containment bay.
Unit-01 walked forward, holding the mysterious blade of souls. He crouched by a building and waited. He watched the Daemon slither past father down the street. Then it disappeared.
"What the hell?! Where is it?"
Suddenly Shinji froze at the sound of a hiss right behind him. Unit-01 turned around to see the Daemon Grinning wickedly at him. Before he could swing the sword at it, it shoved the Particle Beam Lance directly into Unit-01's chest. The Lance punctured straight through. Shinji let out a ragged gasp and lost conscienceness.
"NO!!! Get Shinji out of there!!"
"The Plug isn't ejecting, it's not accepting our codes!
"The pulses are flowing backwards!
"Unit-01 has ceased activation!"
Misato stood shocked starring at the Daemon as it pulled the lance out of Unit-01 and licked the blood off of it.
"What the?!! This is impossible!!?" Shouted Maya
"What's going on?!"
"Unit-04 has been activated!"
"WHAT?! But we never ran an activation test!!"
"Quiet!" shouted Commander Ikari.
Everyone in the room went silent as they faced the leader.
"Rei what are you doing?"
"I'm rescuing Shinji."
"Belay that! Your orders are to remain inside headquarters."
There was a pause, then Rei spoke.
"Negative!"
Unit-04 ripped it's restraints from the walls the made it's way up to the surface.
"REI!!" the Commander shouted, "Eject the entry plug."
"All code are being blocked, she's not accepting them!"
Rei reached the surface with 3 minutes of power left. She carefully crawled to Unit-01 and took the power cable. She switched the power and got up. The Daemon was watching Unit-04 on top of a building. When Unit-04 pulled out it's Prog knife it jumped down.
"Rei Look OUT!!!"
Rei looked up to see the daemon falling down at her. Unit-04 sidestepped at the last minute
and the daemon hit the ground. Before the Daemon could get up Unit-04 grabbed it's
arms and bent them behind the Daemons back. The daemon screeched in pain as both of
it's arm snapped off. It then began to fly upwards. Rei then found it's core, she was about
to stab when the angel jerked and twisted causing Rei to stab into it's skin.
*The Entry plug of Unit-01*
Shinji awoke to a great pain in his chest. The was a large gash across his chest. Even the plug suit got cut through. Then he heard a screech. He some how managed to activate his Eva and he looked up. He saw Unit-04 clinging to the back of the Daemon.
"REEEIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!" He screamed.
"Unit-01's been reactivated!"
"WHAT?!"
Misato watched as Unit-01 got up to its feet and picked up the Blade of Souls.
"Shinji! What are you doing!!?"
He didn't answer. Suddenly 4 wings of light broke through the armor plating on Unit-01's back. It began to fly up to the Daemon. The Daemon looked down to see unit-01 flying up at it, going at an incredibly high speed.
"Rei! Stab it now!"
Unit-04 then pulled the knife loose and jammed it into the Daemons core, the core cracked and the daemon exploded throwing Unit-04 off. Unit-01 flew over and caught Unit-04 in it's arm. Gently the Eva settled to the Earth. Through the Eva's communication system. Rei smiled at Shinji, he smiled back.
"Thank You," she said, "This is the second time you've saved me."
"Your Welcome," Shinji said, " I..uuggh"
Shinji coughed, a little blood came out of his mouth, and he passed out.
"Shinji?"
"Shinji?!"
"SHINJI!!!!!!!!!!"
