You have no idea how badly I wanted to 10 this game. There was only one thing that made me lower the score: the voices. In many parts, the voice overs sound like they are coming out of a can (possibly to make you feel like you're a spirit getting used to the inside of Kalas's head), and some of the acting (Lyude, NPCs) is just awful. On the other hand, some of the voices (Kalas, Savyna, Ladekahn) are very well done. Either way, the voice quality is made up for by the huge quantity and the well done voices on many of the characters. Any scene that even remotely relates to the plot is voiced, and some that don't really relate to the story at all are voiced. Otherwise, there is nothing bad about this game, and the meat of it, the gameplay and storyline, are some of the best I have seen in any RPG. The enemies are particularly evil, as they are trying to destroy the world, and your allies are awesome (I especially love Wazn...). Another complaint that I have heard from people is that "the battling system sucks because it's just another card battling game". NOT AT ALL. For fans of other RPGs, the cards combine magic, specials, items, healing, attacks, defense, and a bit of poker into a streamlined battle menu (the poker comes only from the fact that you can make pairs and straights out of the numbers to get bonuses). This is actually the best battle system I have seen in any game, so try it before ripping on it. The controls are perfectly set up for the game (I especially like choosing numbers with the C-Stick), and you never really feel hindered. The graphics and music are probably the most well done part of the game. The sound gives a perfect feeling of the mood Namco wanted you to feel in a particular place, and the battle sounds are incredible. As for the graphics...all I can really say is AWESOME. The prerendered look on most of the game settings gives the game a feel of whatever area you are in (the cloud effects are awesome, and I don't know HOW they got the effects on Kalas's cape down so well). The character graphics are amazing as well...the only iffy part was Kalas's wings in battle, but those are made up for by his cape and the rest of him looking so good. Each of the characters has their own past and secrets, and the plot has been twisted into knots by the end of the game. As for the difficulty level, for those who like to just whale on bosses, there are some bosses for you, and for those who enjoy a good challenge, there are some INCREDIBLY HARD bosses for you too. For RPG fans and anyone who owns a GameCube, this is a life necessity. Do whatever it takes to get this game...it's THAT good.
