Yoshizawa tried out for Morning Musume when they were looking for the fourth gen. Along with her were a group of other girls, three of them being Ishikawa Rika, Kago Ai, and Tsuji Nozomi. It was apparent that Tsunku seemed to like the fact that Yoshizawa’s voice was very deep compared to everyone else, which may be the prime reason she was picked to enter Morning Musume.

When Tsunku talked with her later on, she seemed to be a bit shy at first, but when asked who she admired, she said “Gotou Maki”. (Which is quite ironic, considering that Maki and Yoshizawa became good friends.)

In the end she was picked to join, where she acted a bit stunned at first, but finally realized, bowed, and was extremely happy. Along her were Ishikawa Rika and Kago Ai, then Tsunku declared he would pick one more girl, which was Tsuji Nozomi.

Also, when the four girls first met the rest of Morning Musume, no one seemed to believe that Yoshizawa was only 14 at the time. She looked older to them.
