Rewrite the scene in court where John Proctor, Mary Warren and Elizabeth
Proctor are questioned by Judge Danforth from the point of view of John Hale in
a monologue. Let him reflect on what happened and describe how he feels about
the trial, which eventually leads to her decision of quitting the court at the
end of Act III.
The
witch-hunt has gone mad. There's many innocent people been accused by the young
girls in Salem. Many people were hanged yet some still in jail waiting for judgment.
In the court today, Judge Danforth asked Elizabeth about her husband John
proctor's fidelity and Elizabeth mentioned nothing about the adultery, which
John told everybody in the court a few minutes before they bring Elizabeth in.
Therefore Judge Danforth didn't believe what Proctor said. After Danforth put
Elizabeth back into the jail, the young girls said that Marry Warren send her
spirit out to hurt Abigail. Marry Warren asked them to stop pretending but the
girls did not stop, they continued and pretend they were hypnotic by Marry and
said exactly what Marry is saying. They also said Marry is going to kill
Abigail. Marry was scared so she accused Proctor being a witch and said Proctor
force her to do so. Judge Danforth believed what Marry said, so he arrested
Proctor and put him in jail wait for the judgment. Every body can see all the
acts that the girls put in was just a fraud, but they believed them. I think
their eyes are blind. John Proctor is a nice Christian. They even arrested
Nurse Rebecca; she's such a nice person who did charity all the time. I think
the trail is unfair and it is going crazy. I don't believe the girls. But I am
only a man, they don't listen to me any more, they believed predominantly girls
instead of the truth. I don't want to see this any more. I am going to quite
the court.
