Title: If That’s Normal…

Summary: How much more of Joan crying can the rest of the cast take? Will someone finally get fed up? Will Joan come back from her trip to De Nile? Read to see! Sequel of sorts to “Normal Day in Arcadia” due to popular demand. How do you have a sequel to a parody, you ask? I have no clue either… just kinda happened.

Disclaimer: Not mine. Nuff said.

A/N: The prequel to this was heavy on the sarcasm… this is just pure and simple ridiculousness. Not sure what time period this takes place… probably after the last story, but before “Friday Night”. Partly inspired by the Things The Cast Would Never Say thread at FanForum. Enjoy!

CuteBoyGod: (walks up next to her) Hey Joan.

Joan: (looks over at him, rolls her eyes) What do you want, Oh Mighty One?

CuteBoyGod: Its almighty, and shouldn’t you be getting the supplies you need for your project?

Joan: Right now?

CuteBoyGod: Keep your eyes and your mind open, Joan. (does the God wave as he walks off)

Joan: Right. Whatever that means...(sighs)

Joan walks into the biology supply closet, goes to the shelf and starts searching for the jar she needs. She has to lean over something that is blocking her way to get to it, and drops it upon picking it up. Someone says “ow!”. Joan looks down to see Grace and Luke below her. Grace is straddling Luke and they have identical looks of panic of their faces as they look up at her. It would be comical if not for the circumstances… on second thought it’s freaking hilarious!

Joan: Hi guys! (a look of confusion) Whatcha doin’?

Grace leaps up out of Luke’s lap, and in the process smacking into Joan’s face with her head.

Joan: (in that incredibly annoying whining voice as she clutches her face) Oooowww!

Grace: We were um… studying biology.

Grace then darts out of the room

Joan: (calling after her) Aren’t we in Physics? (looks to Luke) We are in Physics right?

Luke: (He is franticly gathering his stuff): Um.. That’s what she meant… Physics (His eyes dart around) Gotta go. (he leaves)

Joan: (Throws up her hands) What is with everyone?
++++

Joan: So I went to the Biology supply closet, right? Luke and Grace were there and were acting majorally weird. I already knew something was going on with Grace because of my keen observational skills, but now I think that Luke has something going on with him too. Maybe-

Adam: (Cuts her off, yelling) Grace and Luke are together! Say it with me now: TO-GETH-ER! God woman, what is your problem?

Joan looks at him, lower lip quivering and eyes watering.

Adam: (Frustrated) And stop with the crying all ready! Yesterday you cried because Grace slammed your locker too hard! (Joan is sobbing, he grabs her by the arms, shaking her) What does it take to get you to SHUT THE HELL UP?!?

Joan runs off crying to the bathroom. Everyone is staring because sudden deafness has taken a trip to another network for the moment. Adam slips into brooding mode when he realizes he made his precious Jane cry. And the author pukes because she can’t take anymore cutesy Adam/Joan crap.

And on other side of the US…

Angel: That little punk stole my only facial expression! I’m sensing a crossover event…

(You wish! Hehe)

Joan runs into Grace on her way into the bathroom. She is a mess, her eyes are red and swollen and tears are running down her face.

Grace: What happened this time, the bell ring off tone?

Joan: (sniffling) Adam ye-yelled at (starts to sob again) meeeeee!

Joan flings herself at Grace, wrapping her arms around her neck and burying her snotty nose into her t-shirt.

Grace: (nose scrunching in disgust) Gross, Girardi! (sighs in defeat and pats her back awkwardly) There, there. (pause) You wanna get off me now?

Joan pulls back, trying to contain her obnoxious crying.

Joan: Sorry.

Joan uses Grace’s arm to wipe her eyes and nose and Grace yanks it back. She gives Joan a look of pure disgust and grabs paper towels to clean herself off with.

Joan: Adam was telling me that you and Luke were together. He got all mad about it. I knew you guys were together in the room studying because I was there. And I am never oblivious to what is going on around me…

Grace looks like she’s about ready to strangle Joan at this point in time. The audience all cheers her on, but she doesn’t want to conform (she is anti, you know), so she refrains herself.

Joan: (STILL rambling) …Maybe Adam is having a lot of stress over his extra projects he’s been taking on. Or maybe-

Grace: (Through clenched teeth) Or maybe it’s you and your nonstop prattling.

Joan: I don’t prattle. What is a prattle? Is it anything like cattle, because-

Grace makes a frustrated noise and storms out of the bathroom.

Joan cleans up and walks out of the bathroom, literally running into Adam.

Adam: Jane! (all dramatics and puppy dog eyes) I’m sorry I yelled at you. Can you ever forgive me?

Joan: Of course I can! Everybody knows we’re meant to be even though we fight and have miscommunications all the time!

Adam: And even though I have the hots for your mom. (Joan looks at him, shocked) What? She’s an artist… that’s like my biggest turn on, yo.

Joan: Cha… whatever.

They laugh in that annoying cutesy couply way.

Grace enters the biology closet to find Luke sitting there looking rather bummed.

Luke: What took you so long?

Grace: (with a sigh) I had to clean your sister’s snot off of me.

Luke gives her a strange look.

Luke: But Joan already met her crying quota for the day… She went on for ten minutes because I was eating my breakfast too slow.

Grace: Oh God… that means…

Luke: (eyes widen in terror) She’s upping her quota.

Together: Nooooo!

That night Joan was still pondering her brother’s sudden odd behavior. She decided that she should confront him on the issue. She walked up the stairs and appeared in the doorway to his room, confrontational glare in her eyes and arms crossed. She then gets annoyed when he doesn’t see her right away.

Joan: Grace! Can I talk to my brother?

Grace pulls away from making out with Luke and eyes Joan.

Grace: (with a smirk) Sure.

Joan: (looks at her curiously) What are you doing in here?

Grace and Luke look at her in disbelief of her obliviousness, but quickly recover and grin at each other.

Grace: I was coming over to hang out. I climbed in the wrong window. There are just too many conveniently placed windows to climb to around here.

Joan: (nodding): Okay, cool. Wanna watch a movie or something?

Because we can just chalk it up to crazy Grace behavior that she climbs through your brother’s window to come hang out with you…. Sure Joan, just stay in Egypt as long as you need. Even the author wants to smack Joan for her pure stupidity at this point. She’s lucky that Grace finds it amusing…

Grace: Sounds good.

Joan: (sighs painfully): You can watch too if you want, Luke.

Luke: Awesome.

They go downstairs and put in a movie, one that they all miraculously agree on no less, and Luke and Grace cuddle on the couch while Joan stares ahead at the TV with no comment.

The next day in Physics, Joan is feeling very confused. Her poor little mind is jumbled while she is trying to swim out of De Nile.

Joan: They were both acting so strange. I think…. I think something might be going on with the two of them. Like as in something going on that the other has something to do with kind of going on.

Poor Adam is sitting there listening patiently, trying to keep up with Joan’s rambling that barely makes sense. He knows he can’t push her to the answer, because she might go off on him, and he can’t handle anymore of her damn crying (and neither can we). Grace walks in, late as usual and plops down in her seat.

Joan: (turns to her, very obviously trying to act casual) So… did you like the movie last night?

Grace: (gives her a look): Are you sure they did they right thing letting you out of crazy camp?

Joan: (ignoring her): It was kind of romantic, you know?

Grace: (looks at Joan like she just grew another head) A psycho hacking and slashing people? (sarcasm) Yeah that’s real romance.

Joan: (leans in closer) Well, what DO you find romantic?

Grace: (eyeing her) I don’t do romance.

Joan: Well, there has to be… a certain… thing you look for in a person. I was just wondering what it… was.

Grace: (Still looking at her like she is considering personally delivering her back to Dr. Dan) Are you hitting on me, dude?

Joan: What? (Looks at her suspiciously) Do you want me to?

Grace: (rolls her eyes) You’d think by now you would know that I am NOT GAY.

Joan: (gasps) Oh My God! You and my brother have a-a …(stutters, trying to grasp the idea) thing!

Grace: (looks at her in disbelief) THAT’S what it takes?!?

Joan: (waves it off) Well duh. Anyone with eyes can see it. I knew you either had the hots for him or wanted to use him to get to me. And since you’re straight…

(Because she hasn’t had confirmation on that a billion times already...)

Luke has turned around in his seat by this time and is grinning.

Luke: (to Grace) You had the hots for me all along?

Grace: (embarrassed) Shut up.

Luke leans over her table and they kiss. Leishak clears her throat.

Lieshak: Miss Polk, Mr. Girardi? (they look over at her) I believe PDA is strictly forbidden. You can both see me after class for detention slips.

Luke and Grace look extremely confused, as do Joan and Adam. They shrug it off and Luke goes back to his seat. They continue talking, but for some unexplainably reason their conversation doesn’t cause Lieshak’s voice to fade into the background. They eventually give up, puzzled to why things are suddenly straying from the “normal and completely sane”.

Later that day…

Joan: I got a late pass. I don’t understand. We didn’t stay out in the halls any longer than normal!

Adam: It’s weird, yo.

Joan: Unchallenged.

Grace and Luke walk up together, both looking equally confused as Joan and Adam.

Grace: Have you noticed that things are getting really strange around here?

Luke: (realization dawning on him) Equilibrium.

They all look at him with a “what?” expression on their faces.

Luke: Joan cries because of some inane thing everyday. It’s a fact of life.

Joan: (offended) Hey!

Luke: She hasn’t cried yet today. Because of the sudden change in the environment, everything else is trying to adjust to find a balance. Being in a state of equilibrium is what is natural for all organisms. A natural phenomenon. This is amazing… I am going to have to conduct an experiment right away (runs off in geeker joy as the others roll their eyes).

Adam: But it’s not the end of the day. There is still plenty of time for her to cry today. And she cried yesterday…

Grace: She finally got a clue about Luke and I! That could have thrown off the equal thingy.

Joan: SHE is standing right here. So you’re saying this is all my fault?

Grace: Yeah, that’s exactly what we’re saying.

Joan: Great.

They all stand there, considering.

Grace: (looks around): Where is Judith?

Everybody takes notice to the fact that Judith has been missing for a while. Great friends, aren’t they?

Joan: She hasn’t been around since a couple of days ago…

Suddenly there is a crashing noise coming from the supply closet nearby. They all look at each other before Joan goes and opens the door. Judith and Friedman are furiously making out, and have knocked over a mop in the process.

Joan: Oh MY GOD!

Judith and Friedman break their kiss and walk out of the closet.

Judith: I thought we were never gonna get out of there. Thanks Jojo.

Joan: (in absolute shock): This is where you have been for two days?!?

Judith: We got stuck yesterday morning. (sidling up to Friedman) But my little Shakespeare kept me company, didn’t you? (looks back to others) We have to get to class. See ya.

Judith and Friedman walk off and everyone stares after them in shock. Bet they all could use that sudden blindness right about now.

Joan: What have I done???

The End

A/N : Oh no! With the way things are going this is going to become a trilogy! Not that anyone but me is going to complain…
