The morning wasn’t as bad as I had expected. I figured everyone would be beat down dead, but they weren’t. They were just the regular kind of dead. I got up before the rest of them and made sure to get a shower in before we left. I wasn’t exactly sure if we’d be staying in a hotel the next couple nights and I wanted to make sure I didn’t fall too behind on the whole hygiene thing. Once I had wrapped a towel around myself I left the bathroom and went back into the room. I walked over to my bed and sat on the edge. I shook Lex gently, and warned him it was time to get up. Of course he swatted me away and rolled over onto his stomach. “Suit yourself,” I told the back of his head before I stood up. After scanning the room I found my bag tossed in the corner. Luckily I wasn’t as messy as Annie and all of my clothes were still in my bag. Of course, they weren’t folded nicely, but they weren’t thrown about the room either, which made leaving the hotel much easier. Since I assumed we would be in the van most of the day, I opted for comfort over style. I pulled out my trusty worn out jeans and a plain black tank top. I scooped up my clothes and decided to wake up Annie so she could start stuffing her clothes back into her bag before I went back to the bathroom to get dressed. By the time I was done changing Lex and Topher were both awake and sitting on their beds, both with glazed over looks. Annie was kneeling on the ground, trying with all her strength to get her bag zipped shut. “I’m gunna head down now, you guys can’t take too long. Taylor might have a hissy fit,” I warned, then collected my bags and pillow. I was in front of the hotel for awhile waiting for the rest of the band to collect all of their stuff and make their way down to the vans, leaning up against the van watching a small group of Hanson fans wait for Isaac, Taylor and Zac. As much as I would be annoyed by the constant watching eye and criticism from the fans I still wished Lex would have fans like that one day. They really had dedication, and I knew that’s what Lex really wanted. Actually, it seems like that wasn’t too far away. This tour had really boosted their fan base so far. Taylor was the first to come out. He was holding Ezra’s hand, and Natalie was right behind him holding Ellie. He walked right passed me mumbling something to Natalie, along the lines of being an hour or so behind. Picking up on his pissy mood I made myself look busy picking my fingernail polish when he walked by. Natalie acknowledged me with a smile and “Good morning” as she passed, then disappeared onto the tour bus in front of our van. I wasn’t sure where we were going, but I figured it was only a few hours away since they would need time to set up and do sound checks. I wasn’t sure which direction we were heading, or what city it was in, but that’s something I got used to. Most of the time I had no idea where we were, not that it really made much difference knowing. After all, it wasn’t until we walked through Times Square that I realized we were in Manhattan. After the rest of the band crawled into the vans, I slid the door shut and climbed over Annie to the window seat and buckled up. I slid on my headphones and silently stared out the window at passing buildings. I continued staring out the window until I fell asleep, and stayed asleep until the van came to a stop in a parking lot behind a large building. Annie was sitting between me and the door so I shook her shoulder to wake her up. She can always seem to fall asleep while we’re traveling, but it’s not usually as easy for me. Actually, I can fall a sleep, but if the van slows down at all I wake up. It’s nice though, because it always makes the drives go by faster. Once the door was open we all got out and stretched before walking in through the back door. Annie and I found Kate and Natalie who showed us around the venue, and back to the dressing room. This venue was much nicer than a few of the other places we had been to so far this summer. There was an actual room set aside for the bands and their families, instead of a dark hallway behind the stage. Inside the dressing room was a table set up with lunchmeat and vegetable and fruit trays, along with bottled water and pop. I made myself at home while the bands started setting up. A few hours later the doors had opened to the fans, and after changing into suitable clothes Annie and I had made our way to the front of the crowd. We hadn’t actually watched the show in a few days, and the boys said they wanted to actually see us support them. And I want to know, since when did following my fiancé around the country and giving up a comfortable bed at home not count as showing support? Every night they play basically the same set, and don’t get me wrong, I love Lex's band, and I even grew to like Hanson, but it just gets so boring. But Lex said it meant a lot to him that we actually watch the show tonight, I sucked it up and convinced Annie to join me in on the floor. Apparently watching the show from the safety of the balcony was not enough. So there we were, smashed up against the metal rail that separated the crowd from the stage, surrounded by screaming fans. People were already shoving to get close to the stage, and the openers, Lex's band, hadn’t even started yet. Already I could feel a headache coming on, and I was sweating like a whore in church. It was when I was ready to give up and flee to the balcony when I saw Lex sticking his head out from the side of the stage. He scanned the front row and smiled when he saw me standing there with my arms crossed over my chest. I took my cell phone out of my pocket and sent him a text: “You owe me. I don’t think the girl next to me is wearing deodorant.” I watched his face as he read it and smiled when he shrugged his shoulders back at me. He blew me a kiss before disappearing. Luckily, the crowd wasn’t too crazy for Lex's band. After all, they were just the openers. After they finished Annie and I squeezed our way back through the crowd and made our way to the bathroom. There was no way I was going to be trapped in the front row in middle of screaming fans any longer. No way. There was a gap between then end of Belladonna and Hanson, while they set up so there were quite a few girls in the restroom priming. Because of course, Hanson would be able to see them from stage, and fall in love with them. Right. I was standing by the sink waiting for Annie, when I heard a girl next to me bragging to her friend. She was leaning in toward the mirror, examining her makeup as she talked. Her shirt was cut unconventionally low, and her boobs were pushed up unconventionally high. Her hair perfectly straight without a single hair out of place, and her sunglasses sat on top of her head, even though there was no use for them in the venue. And her makeup? She was wearing more than enough to last a week. “I’m going back to the hotel with him,” She said as she took out a tube of lip gloss and smeared it across her already painted lips. “Which one?” her friend asked, shaking excess water off of her hands. “The drummer.” She bragged, before pressing her lips together. She placed her lip gloss wand back in the tube and screwed it shut before continuing, “He came up to me and said he wanted me to go back with him after the show, so what the heck. He’ s no Zac, but he’s a drummer.” The girl and her friend continued staring in the mirror, before her friend added, “Yeah, but if you get lucky you can get to Isaac through him.” The girl laughed, before continuing, “I heard he’s engaged to Nikiki or something, but there’s still hope, I guess. It’s not like their married or anything.” Her eyes lit up before she asked, “Did you see Natalie? She looks like she’s ready to pop any day. Her poncho wasn’t hiding anything.” “How long do you think until Kate gets pregnant?” “She probably is now,” the girl huffed before changing the subject back to Lex. “Whatever, I can’t wait till after the show to hook up with the drummer, whatever his name is.” I didn’t realize I was staring at the two of them, but when she spoke to me I realized my mouth was open from disgust. “What’s the matter, hunny? Never heard of a groupie?” She asked, twirling her perfect hair around her finger. I didn’t actually know this girl, but I knew I hated her. I crossed my arms over my chest and searched my head for a stinging come back “They’re not even staying in a hotel tonight,” I blurted out, wincing after I realized I must have sounded like a 5th grade know-it-all. She raised her eyebrow at me. A devilish grin crept over her face and slowly said, “Well then I guess we’ll get it on in the bus.” My blood boiled as her and her friend started laughing. Annie had just walked up to me when I was informing her, “No, me and him will be getting it on in the bus tonight.” Once again I winced at my lame comeback. “Since when do you and Lex get it on?” Annie asked before she looked the two girls opposite from us. I looked at her with wide eyes, hopping she would get the telepathic messages I was sending her, but instead she just washed her hands. “Annie, this girl thinks Lex asked her back to the hotel to get it on tonight,” I said placing my hands on my hips. Annie looked up and laughed. “How pathetic. He’s her fiancé. And even if she wasn’t, you’re to skanky for Lex. He does have standards, you know.” “Whatever,” she sneered before her and her friend pushed passed Annie and I. “I can’t believe that!” I exclaimed “That bitch was bragging to her friend about ‘getting it on’” I said, emphasizing ‘getting it on’ by using air quotes, “with Lex. Who the hell does that?” I guess it was official. I had made an enemy of some sort. Girls had officially wanted my fiancé, or at least wanted to use him. And after this tiff in the bathroom I’m sure somebody hates me. I had seen how some girls hate Natalie and Kate just because they’re married to Taylor and Zac, but come on, Lex is only Lex. I didn’t sign up for this when Lex and I started dating. I never wanted to marry someone who has a constant crowd of admiring girls hating me. Annie dried off her hands and chuckled. “Don’t worry about it. I’m sure she feels like an idiot now. At least I would feel like an idiot if I was her.” Once we were up in the balcony Annie pulled me aside. “So since when do you two have sex?” She whispered. I rolled my eyes before looking her in the eyes. “We don’t.” “Then why’d you say you ‘get it on’?” She asked, using air quotes to mock me for my use earlier. “I had to say something, and that was the first thing that came to mind,” I explained looking her straight in the eye. She squinted at me, trying to read my face. After a moment she nodded, “You wouldn’t lie to me, right?” I pulled my arm out of her grasp and said, “No, Mom. I wouldn’t lie to you.” “Don’t get me wrong, I would be so proud of you if you did. I personally think you need to loosen up, but whatever. I just wanted to know.” “Annie. Shut up,” I smiled.
