- Disclamers: Well...I certainly don't own Ronin Warriors or Yoroiden Samurai Troopers. If I did the guys would be spending time doing things other than fighting. Just don't sue me. I'm just borrowing them and I'm making no money. Comprehendo?
warinings: Yaoi, in case you didn't get that from reading the pairings...which makes no sense to me. Oh well. You don't like yaoi? I suggest you don't read this. It's yaoi romance disguised as a adventure. Other warnings...language, probably violence.
my apologies to people who know the series much better than I, this probably got alot of things wrong. As I said OOC...maybe AU too.
Bad Dreams
Kento hummed gently to himself as he walked down the stairs to get a midnight snack. There was something so comforting about knowing that being up to snack at midnight wasn't going to jeopardize not just your life, but four others as well from lack of sleep. Besides, he could sleep in late the next day anyway. His mood changed from content to curious, however, when he noticed a light on the kitchen. Apparently he wasn't the only one after a midnight snack. It was probably Ryou, seeing as Sai and Sage slept like normal people (except for the fact that the slightest sound would get Sage up…Sai too, if Torrent was in the right mode) and Rowen…well, Rowen would sleep through an enemy attack if people let him.
"Good morning." Kento chuckled quietly on entering the kitchen.
"Hello."
To Kento's surprise the dull reply came from Sai. The Brit. was sitting at the table a cup of what was probably warm milk cradled in his hands. His green-blue eyes were clouded and downcast. Kento was immediately on guard. No one was sick or hurt…and there were no enemies. What could possibly be bothering the other man?
"Couldn't sleep?" He asked casually as he plowed through the refrigerator for something to eat.
"You could say that." The young man in question sighed.
"Hmmm?" Kento prompted, setting down the makings for sandwich on the table.
"Nothing." Sai mumbled. Standing up to put his mug in the sink, he headed out of the kitchen.
"Sai." Kento called, almost forgetting his sandwich in his rare bout of worry.
"What?" Sai asked, turning back to face his best friend.
"Ummm…not to sound cheesy or nothing, but…are you alright? You look really out of it."
Sai shook his head and gave Kento a forced, weak smile. "I'm fine, Kento. Just some weird dreams, that all."
"Weird?"
"I said it was nothing, Ken."
"You sure?"
"Yes I'm sure. You're starting to sound like me, Kento."
"Ha." Kento went back to his sandwich.
"Kento." Sai's voice was soft and careful.
"Hmmm?" Kento's mouth was already full of ham and cheese.
"Do you really think we'll never have to use the armor again?"
Kento turned to look at his friend's worried face and shrugged slightly. "I'd think Sage'd be the one to ask about that.
"I guess."
"Is that what's bothering you?"
"Well…"Sai leaned against the wall, "kinda, I guess. I still can't really believe…"
"None of us can. Are ya having nightmares 'r something?"
"Yes. Something feels…out of balance." He came back to sit down again.
"How so?" Kento asked, getting slightly exasperated. "Really Sai, if you're going to tell me somethin' stop pussyfooting around and tell me."
"I'm nor sure if I can." Sai murmured. "It's…weird."
"I'm not going anywhere in a big hurry." Kento chuckled.
"I keep having these dreams..."Sai trailed off, his head falling into his hands, "We're back fighting Kayura and suddenly we're somewhere else and we're fighting each other. Then someone's got Ryou's on the ground and this big wave come and sweeps him away, only the water's all wrong. It looks like water, but it feels wrong."
Kento shuddered. "That's icky, but it could be just a dream."
"Yeah, I guess. Thanks, Ken."
"Sure, Sai. Think you'll be able ta sleep now?"
Sai nodded and stood up. Then he crumpled, landing on the floor with a slight thud. Kento was out of his chair in a second.
"Sai. Sai!" Sai was still breathing. Just…out. Too shocked to yell Kento lifted him up and hurried to Sage's room, kicking at the door rather than knocking on it.
"One minute." Came the soft call.
"Damnit Sage. Now!"
There was a soft shuffling and the door swung open and Sage stared at Kento. The blond was actually mussed.
"He just collapsed." Kento explained. "He told me about this dream he had and collapsed." He sighed in relief as Sage took Sai from him and rubbed his aching shoulders. Then he noticed Rowen sitting cross-legged on Sage's bed, next to where Sage had just laid Sai. Kento's dark eyebrows flew up.
"I was havin' nightmares." Rowen said sulkily.
Sage looked up at Kento. "He's fine." He reassured the dark haired man. "He's just fainted. I'd guess he hasn't been sleeping much for awhile." His look turned inquisitive. "You said something about a dream?"
"Yeah, he's been having re'curing nightmares. Something about fighting each other and water that wasn't right."
"Mmmm…Rowen?"
"Yeah. From fightin' Kayura ta fightin' each otha. Then Ryou gets waterd an' Sai gets burned. Than ya get airborn, Kento. But it isn't good air."
"And Rowen gets sucked into the earth." Sage added.
"So what happens ta you?" Kento asked Sage.
"I don't know. No one seems to know what happens to themselves."
"Hmmm…what about Ryou?"
"I'll tell you what about Ryou." Came a tired voice from the doorway. A very sleep rumpled Wildfire was standing in Sage's doorway. He continued. "Ryou wishes the nightmares would stop so he could get some sleep."
"Am I th' only one not getting these nightmares?" Kento wondered aloud.
"Byukuen seems to be sleeping fine." Ryou snickered.
"I think I know why." Sage said, his voice keeping Kento from punching Ryou in the gut. "I don't know how long Sai and Ryou have been having the dreams. But I've been having them for a bit over a week and Rowen's had them for about six days."
"Just tonight and last night." Ryou muttered.
"Three weeks." Came Sai's accented voice. The other four whipped around to look at him. Sai was pulling himself to his up. Then he dumped his head in his hands. "Owww."
"I might be able to fix it if you tell me what hurts." Sage deadpanned.
"For now, my head."
Sage sighed and leaned across Rowen to touch Sai's forehead. There was a faint green glow before Sai let out a grateful sigh of relief.
"Thanks Sage."
"You haven't slept in a month?" The healer inquired.
"Something like that." Sai replied, dropping his head onto Rowen's shoulder and leaning against the blue haired man. Kento, watching him, felt a stab of what he realized was jealousy. Totally random. He told himself. And silly. Rowen got a slightly stupid smile on his face and patted the brunette's hair.
"You should have told me." Sage reprimanded Sai.
"I'm sorry." Came the soft reply. "I didn't want to worry you."
"Sai you baka." Ryou growled softly. "Something's out of balance. Ya should have said."
"I'm sorry."
"Don't pick on him, Ryou." Kento chuckled, grinning when Sai shot him a grateful, if sleepy, smile.
"This obviously needs workin' on." Rowen yawned. "But, I fer one 'm way too tiahed. We can talk tommarah."
"I agree." Ryou muttered, and Kento nodded emphatically. Then he hesitated.
"What about the nightmares?"
"Who's got the biggest bed?" Rowen asked cheerfully.
"'Sides Mia?" Ryou joked.
"Yeah"
"The pullout couch will hold…a lot of people." Sai said softly.
"All five of us." Rowen agreed happily. "Let's go."
Sai stood up, and stumbled a bit. Kento automatically reached out to steady him.
"Thanks." Sai murmured, slinging his arm over Kento's shoulder and leaning cozily into the larger man.
"You are so sleeping tonight." Kento told his friend making him giggle slightly. They headed down the stairs, watching Rowen nuzzle his way between Ryou and Sage, attempting to cuddle against both men at once. The blue haired man was feeling very obviously insecure.
"Bug off, Gay Boy." Ryou muttered fondly.
"No more gay than either of you two." Rowen purred. "Take than as you will."
"You really are out of it." Sage murmured. "You're acting cute."
"So humor me."
Sage sighed and opened an arm to his friend who snuggled gratefully into it. Sai was watching and let out a light giggle. Kento turned towards him inquisitively.
"Hmmm?"
"Kawaii." Sai breathed.
"Hn."
Ryou and Rowen moved to pull out the couch bed and dump some pillows and blankets onto it. Then they all collapsed onto it. Ryou, Sage, and Rowen a nice, comfortable sandwich with Rowen ensconced happily in the middle. Ryou and Kento were at either end of the couch with Sai and Sage cozily back to back. Sai blinked sleepy eyes at Kento.
"Ken?"
"Yeah?"
"Wou…would you hold me?"
Kento chuckled slightly at Sai hesitation and opened his arms and Sai snuggled into them. Then he sighed gently and shut his eyes.
When Kento and Sai were asleep both Ryou and Rowen began to giggle.
"Something's gonna happen!" Rowen sang.
"Something is happening." Sage grumbled good naturedly, kissing first Ryou and then Rowen longer and slower. "Now sleep."
