Episode 2 Secrets part 1

Tails paced back and forth across his room. He hated being left out of something that seemed so important.

"It's not like I'm too young," he told himself, "Klonoa is in it too, and he's my age, right?" The question remained unanswered. the more he thought about it, the more sense it made to him that he should go out and see what was happening, whats the worst that could happen? Tails had just resovled himself to go out when he head Sonic say,

"Lets get down there now!" and then he heard someone leave.

"Great, now I can follow them," Tails was excited now, he was being d efiant. He was acting out. He was...

"Tikal, watch Tails." Sonics voice again. He was stuck, unless. Tails was going to show off later, but now was as good a time as any.

Waiting until he saw them pass by, Tails stood on his balcony. When the group was almost out of sight, Tails jumped from the ledge, began to spin his tails, and flew after his new friends. "Good job they don't know I can do this, or Tikal would have been in my room watching me." Tails laghed to himself, unaware that Tikal watced his flight from another of Ame's windows, smiling.


"Whats the name of the place we're heading to?" a simple question from Sonic.

"The Jeweled Egg [robonik joke, ask any geek,or loki.] , it specialises in those Fabrege(?) egg things, but its a jewelry shop too." Ame was struggling to keep up with sonic, but still was able to provide info about the target area, "It's just ahead."

"Looks like you did find the guys after all." Loki pointed to a broken window.

"To think you guys doubted me." joked Ame. Appearently hearing this a golden hedgehog [you know who these guys are] in old leathers looked out of the smashed window, a black hedgehog dress much the same joined him, but went back inside as the first jumped out.

"Get lost! This is a private robbery." he threatend.

"And we're here to break it up." as Shadow returned with Metalix.

"Lets get them." said Shadow.

"Try it." Loki was ready to fight, as were the rest.



The SLA [we really really need a name, come on loki] split so that each could fight without the others getting in the way, and to face them Amy and Sonic took Shadow, Loki and Amethyst stared down Super Sonic while Rouge, Knuckles and Klonoa faced Metalix. Confidant in their skils, the SLA had become careless.

Metalix charged his opponents, usually anyone faced with this was paralyzed with fear, however Knuckles, Rouge and Klonoa weren't so easy, and scattered, before the former to dropped from their glide to deliver blows that would leave lesser foes crippled. Metalix stood against these until the full force of Klonoa dropped onto his head, at the same time that both Rouge and Knuckles had attacked with powerful double punches. Metalix fell to the ground saying,

"Error... It is not.... possilble." Rouge hugged Knuckles, while Klonoa bounced on the fallen robot to make sure he stayed down.


Amethyst sensed Super Sonic's power, and signaled for him to stay back until he had worn their opponent down a little. Tired of waiting, Super Soinc rushed Ame, who was closer. The wolf-guy [i don't class myself as a boy or man, so guy fits :).] swung both arms forward, deflecting the charge without any contact between them. This left Ame slightly breathless, but left super Sonic in a wall. The hedgehog shook himself off and charged again, with the same results, Ame defended himself, and with no contact, Supe Sonic bounced off a wall. Twice more he tried this, and twice more was stopped.

"How? How are you doing that??" Super Sonic raged.

"It's.... a... psyco barrier....." Ame was realy exhausted, but so was Super Sonic, "Now, go for it Loki!" Showing his feline agility, Loki vaulted over Ame, landed perfectly by Super Sonic and roundhouse kicked him in one easy motion. Stunne by this kick, the hedgehog swayed slightly.

"Time for me to go Chun-Li on your ass [martial arts from vide games/ and why not (lolh)]." said Loki.

"Who?" his ears still ringing, Super Sonic didn't see the point to that.

"Someone get this guy any Streetfighter II game." was Loki's reply, before he pulled off a whirlwind kick, copied straight from the game. Super Sonic stood no chance, and quickly fell.

"Got 'im!" Loki struck his victory pose [well, it is very anime, but i'm not sure what it is]

"Go Loki!" Ame laughed, slightly recovered from his mental exercise.


Sonic and Shadow faced each other. Amy stod behind Sonic, waiting to see how she could help.

"You gonna stand there all day, or are you gona do something?" Sonic was trying to goad Shadow into action.

"You can't handle this action kid." both of them began a turbo spin, both unleased at the same time, the clash between them resulted in both being thrown back. THey clashed again, with the same results.

"You're better than you look." Shadow admired, "But letssee if you can handle this. CHAOS CONTROL!!" A bolt of dark energy flew from Shadow and hit Sonic, freezing him. Laughing evily Shadow built up speed and charged. Amy was too far away to help, and the rest of the guys wee tied up in their own fights.

"Nooo!!" screamed Amy, running towards Sonic, knowing she couldn't reach him.

Suddenly, Sonic was lifted from Shadows path.

"Gotcha!" Tails' triumphant cry. Sonic broke free from the darkness, realised how Tails had saved him, and said,

"Thanks for the save kid, but we really didn't want you involved in this."

"But aren't you glad I came?"

"You win, now put me down, I gotta beat that guy."

"Not really an issue anymore, look" Shadow's charge, having missed its first target, had found another, the heavy end of Amy's hammer. Although she looked harmless, the pink hedgehog was treating Shadow to a major beating, while screaming at him,

"How DARE You (whack) put MY boyfriend (whack) in such DANGER (whack whack)"

"Ouch!" Tails sympathized with the last blow. "Shouldn't we stop her?"

"You going to risk getting in the way of that hammer?" joked Sonic. They landed, and Amy ran to Sonic hugging him.

"Listen!" Rouge shouted, "A chopper's coming, we'd best split."

"It'll be the police," Knuckles agreed, "Lets leave these three to them."

"Buh-bye, and be good in jail," Ame waved then they all ran, leaving the SLA to justice.


The helicopter descended, but much to slowly for the occupant.

"Get this thig down now!" Robotnik shouted at the mechanical pilot.

"Descent rate at maximum." it replied.

"I don't care, get me down there befor the police get here, or you're scra come morning!"

"We have visual." the robot replied.

"Show me!" Robotniks anger abated a little as he saw the three foiled thieves [their plans foiled, not them foil wrapped, just in case you were wondering]. "Excellent, bring them on board as soon as we can."

"Harness now in range, commencing loading."

"These are the one that the police couldn't stop, and yet here they are defeated." intrigued he watched as the second of them as loaded. "What were they doing? Who was able to beat them? How did they evade the police? All these things will be answered!!"

"All three are now on board. The police have almost arrived. Shall we depart?"

"Yes, get us out of here, the police will be caling me soon about my store being robbed. Maybe I should let Horatio take care of it, they are his companies after all." Robotnik's laughter echoed through the night, and his grin didn't fade until he returned to his HQ and began to 'question' his new guests.


Sonic's group reached Ame's apartment very quickly. they had travelled at full speed since leaving the SLA to 'justice'. After entering, Ame wasted no time in shouting at Tails.

"What do you think you were doing! Your parents employ me to make sure you're safe!"

"Leave it, Ame" Sonic stood up for Tails, "It was handy he turned up."

"But what if he got hurt? what would I tell his parents?" Ame quietened "I couldn't forgive myself if anything happened to any of you."

"We're all fine." Amy soothed, At this point Tikal walked out of Ame's room. Innocently she said,

"So that where Tails went. I was looking for him." shaking his head Sonic said,

"I think we'd better call it a night" [ok, it's a night]

"Who's staying then?" Ame asked, recoverd from him moment.

"What?" Tails was puzzled.

"Is there enough room?" From Klonoa.

"Sure, Tails has his bed, you take the spare mattress in his room, Klonoa, Sonic sleeps on my couch, fold it out first, that leaves Knux and rouge." Ame paused here. Loki looked at Tikal who smiled, then said,

"I'll share Tikal's room, they can have our couch."

"Yay! A sleepover at ours!" from Amy.

"We wouldn't want to put you out." Rouge answered.

"Better idea, sonic sleeps on Amy's couch, Knuckles and Rouge can have ours, cus it folds out, y'know, more room?" tails had come to Rouge's rescue.

"Whatever, night then." Sonic left followed by Amy Loki and Tikal.

"I'll get the blankets then, and you two," Ame pointed at Knux and Rouge, "No funny stuff, that goes for you two too," this time at Klonoa and Tails. Knux laughed as he foloded out the bed, and blakets were fecthed for those who neded them.

"Night then, sees you in the morning." Ame went into his room.

"Night." called Knux after him as he lay down next to Rouge. Tails yawned, then went to his rom, followed by Klonoa, who was carrying a blanket and pillows. Tails changed into pjamas while Klonoa stripped to his underwear, and both got into their beds.

"So how long you known Ame?" asked Klonoa [no, not big headed for them to talk about me, this conversation has a point]

"Pretty much all my life." Tails answered.

"Same as me and Sonic then."

"Why you ask?"

"It seems strange that your parents would send you to live with him.."

"He's a trusted family friend." Tails wondered where this was going. "How long you known him?"

"Two years, maybe two and a half. Strang guy, huh?"

"You're all pretty strange, I mean how many people form vigilante groups?"

"Good point. Well, g'night Tails."

"Goodnight." Shortly both boys were sleeping.


"Wasn't that a bit bold, y'know, saying we'd share a room?" Tikal asked Loki. The pair were sharing Tikal's bed, and Loki put his arms around the echidna girl.

"So? We are friends, and it's fine for us to share."

"You think anyone suspects ww're dating?"

"Not really, we spend so much time together, they probably wouldn't notice if we went out to dinner, or to see a movie together." Tikal smiled,

"So why not tell them?"

"These are your reasons remember. Firstly, Amy and Ame would go nuts for not sharing such a juicy tidbit of gossip." Tikal nodded in agreement. "Secondly, if we tell everyone then people would always be prying to see how we are, if everythings ok, and thirdly, if we keep it between us, then its something special to just us. Besides, they don't need to know."

"What did I do to deserve you?" Tikal sighed.

"Must have been something awful for this kind of punishment." Loki laughed. They kissed softly, then slept in each others arms.


The next morning when Knux and Rouge woke up, they found breakfast on the table, enough for all the group, as usual. It was 9:00. Ame would have eaten, they would eat now, Loki, Tikal and Amy usually turn up at half past, Sonic would normally be eating now, but instead Klonoa ws eating with Tails.

"Morning guys." Klonoa was fully dressed, and much to cheerful for this early on a Sunday morning. Tails was still in his stripped pjamas, and looked half asleep, Klonoa must have dragged him awake to eat with him. Ame walked out of the kitchen, soaked.

"Hey Ame, what happened?" Rouge asked, stil sleepy, and dressing.

"Nothing, just exercising on the balcony." Ame answered, drying himself. Rouge looked out of the window and saw the morning drizzle,

"Why in the rain?" Knux was curious too.

"It's invigorating, you should try it. I'm off for a shower." He walked into the bathroom, and locked the door after him.

"Some people are just strange." Rouge said to everyone's agreement while sitting down to eat. Sonic arrived fully dressed, and ful of energy at 9:10, with Amy, Tikal and Loki in tow. Amy ws in a pj suit covered in pink hearts, Tikal wor a plain white nightshirt and Loki was in spotty pjamas [if you don't like it loki, then tuff]., just as Ame left his room wearing another purple masterpiece, consisting of three-quater lenght shorts, and a matching t-shirt with the words 'if you want straight, buy a ruler' [he he, ruler] on it, both looked tight.

"Oh, morning guys, eat up, I'm turning on the news." He picked up the doofer [erm.. its the remote really, but doofer seems to have replaced the normal word at my house, go figure.] and found a news station as everyone else ate.

".... will be bright and sunny with high temperatures," The weather reporter handed back to the main presenter. "Our main story again, another jewelry store was broken into last night, although no-one was caught, nothing was taken. If you have any information concerning these thefts, please notify the authorities."

"What!!" Sonics cry matched the entire groups response. "There was no way those guys could have got away!"

"Shh! Theres more," Tikal interrupted.

"A spokesman for Kinbotor Industries, owners of The Jeweled Egg, had this to say." The picture cut to a smartly dressed young man with hair as black as the suit he wore.

"Horatio." Loki whispered in shock.

"As head of Kintobor Industries, I wish to encourage anyone with any new information about the culprits to come forward. I am offering a reward for any leads that will help in the capture and conviction of these criminals."

"That was Horatio Robotnik, of Kintobor Industries. In other news..." Ame turned off the set.

"So all that, last night, was for nothing?" Tails was concerned.

"At least we stopped them from robbing the place." Amy sounded hopeful.

"Could you locate them again Ame?" Sonic asked.

"I work better by moonlight, but they have strange energy patterns, so I'll try." As instructed, Ame set to work with his 'tools'. The crystal began to swing, but all vain, no target was found. "Sorry guys, maybe once the moon is up, huh?" Breakfast was finished in silence, each person lost in there own thoughts.

"I don't see why I had to handle that personally." Horatio's mood was sour. Last night his first board meeting had been interrupted by a cal from the police, one of his lesser companies had been robbed. Not really a good way for investors to see how in control he was.

"Cheap publicity sir, this way people see the new face of an old company."

"I have better things to do than talk to the press about one store."

"Sorry sir, but it was your father's idea." Horatio's aide was getting nervous now.

"Of course it was. As if he hasn't done enoug for me already." The interview was short, and as he rehearsed. A few one-on-ones were arranged so that everyone could get to know Horatio, and how he would guide the company.

Horatio was unsettled. He didn't dream last night, and there was so much he wanted to find out from the girl he saw in them. The entire day would drag now, he knew it. He decided to seek out his father, to complain about the morning's situation, and the situation in general, but having searched the labs and not finding him, he turned his attention to one of his own projecs.

"Where my father failed, I'll succeed. If those emeralds truly have so much power, then shouldn't they be in the hands of the head of the corp?" He turned to a small device of his own construction. A high power scanner. "The problem with father is that he's to soft." His invention wold find what he was looking for, but the side-effects would have certain repercusions on the machinery of the city. But you can't make an omlette without breaking a few eggs.


The entire group had bee dispitired by there apparant and sudden revesal of victory [does that make sense? do i care?]. They were going to celebrate, but although they stopped the thieves, they found little to get them going. Sonic had returned to the beach, Klonoa, Rouge and Knux had each gone to their homes, Ame had finished the breakfast dishes and was ginving Amy a manicure in her apartment while Loki beat Tails on Soulcaliber, and Tikal wrote poetry [she's trying something new, it may last]. Although it was close to midday, and was sunny and bright, Ame was the only one who was dressed [he he, ruler], the rest remained in their pj's.

"Why don't we, other hand, go down to the beach?" Ame was trying to get everyone out.

"Beats hanging around here all day." Amy agreed.

"Sure, I can't get the hang of this game anyway." Tails was glad to get out of playing again.

"And you two have no choice in the matter." Ame would get them having fun, or die trying. Tikal wanted to speak to Loki on their own, but still agreed.

"Um, sure, it'll be good to get some... sun."

"Get changed and grab what you need, we'll meet in the hall in ten." Ame and Tails left to get ready. Amy blew on her nails as she changed, and put on a skimpy red costume, and matching red sarong, with a pair of red sandles. Tikal's suit was a one piece, so less revealing, and in yellow, with a floral sarong. Loki wore denim shorts and a t-shirt with a Dragon Ball Z logo and a pair of trainers, he'd just sit if anyone strating swimming. Meeting in the hall, Tails wore green shorts and a white short sleeved shirt, while Ame hadn't changed [he he, ruler], but carried a parasol, a basket and a backpack.

"I called us a cab, it should be waitng for us downstairs." Ame sounded happier now. Loki, Amy and Tikal looked at each other and said.

"Luc?"

"Luc." Ame nodded smiling. Tails didn't really understand the laughter that followed, but smiled anyway.

As promised, the taxi was waiting for them. Ame jumped in the front passenger seat, and kissed the driver.

"Not what I meant when I said call me," he said when they parted.

"Did he just kiss him?" Tails was shocked.

"Hi guys, jump in back, beach right?"

"Hi Luc, yes, beach." said Amy as she got in. Luc was a Dog-guy [a Collie, you know, Lassie?] whose taste in clothes ranged from loud to glowing. Today he was wearing Hawaiin style shirt and shorts.

"You staying with us?" Ame asked, "I made you lunch."

"Plus you're dressed for it" from Loki

"How can I resist?" Luc said as he drove off.


In a high security basement of Kintobor Tower, Robotnik questioned his three captives. Al thre were chained to a wall. So far he had learned little, only their names.

"Why were you robbing my store?" he blustered.

"Cus it was closer." Shadow answered.

"What were you looking for?"

"Shiny things." from Metalix.

"Tell me what you were doing, or I will have you all killed!" "I wouldn't threaten if I were you." Super Sonic broke his silence.

"And why is that then?"

"'Cus you have some secrets too, like Kintobor."

"WHAT!!" pure shock was in the doctors voice.

"You killed him, or at least had him killed." Super Sonic played his trump card.

"How do you know that? No matter, perhaps we can negotiate."

"Yeah right, NOW!" at this command from Metalix, all three broke loose from their shackles.

"This guy is of no importance to us." said Shadow. "Lets get back to the Emerald hunt."

"The Chaos Emeralds?" Robotnik wanted to hear more.

"What do you know about them?" Super Sonic shouted.

"Like I said, lets negotiate."


The sun had almost filled the beach, but ther was enough room for them to sit, or lie, togther, and watch the sea. Ame and Luc were under the parasol holding hands, Loki had gone for a walk, Amy was swimming with Tikal, while Sonic was giving surfing lessons to Tails, and Klonoa, who had turned up at around the same time.

"It sure looks hard Sonic [double entrendre not intended]" Tails watched how Sonic had done it.

"Try it." Sonic handed Tails a board. Copying what he saw, Tails swam out and stood on the board for about a second before abandoning it for the sky. He flew back to the beach while sonc fished out the board.

"At least you stood up." Klonoa encouraged.

Loki retuned from his walk and sat a little disance from where Luc was covering Ame's back in sun oil, and watched Tikal spalshing around.

"Wow, i'm lucky." he said to himself. Tikal caugt his stare, and smiled back. Amy had swum to Sonic, so Tikal went to Loki. Sure no-one was listening she asked,

"Who's Horatio?"

"What?" Loki was taken aback.

"This morning, the guy on the news, you said his name before it came up, do you know him?" Tikals concern was audible.

"Kinda, I'll tell you later"

"Lunchtime!" Ame called to everyone. He broke into the backpack for himself and Luc, and gave the hamper to Sonic to share around the rest. The day passed with swimming, surfing and volleyball. When it began to get dark, Luc drove them back to Chao Towers.

"Friday, pick me up at 9:00, cancel any other plans." said Ame while getting out.

"Sure." said Luc, they kissed again, then Luc drove off. In the apartment, Amy went straight to bed. Loki sat with Tikal and said,

"About Horatio, I know him from the school. I think he killed my parents."


p.s. Luc has returned 'cus if Loki's getting some, so should i :). he may be a extra good-guy from now on, maybe not, depnds on my ever changing moods [and permission from my muse] n.b. he he ruler.
