Corbett and Kin 2

Kin walks from the school, her bag across her shoulder.
Corbett is leaning on a wall near the door, breathing hard, shivering slightly despite the warmth. His eyes are closed.
Kin stops as she sees Corbett, then slowly walks over to him. "Are...you alright..?"
Corbett raises one hand to his temple. His head is throbbing. Slowly he opens his eyes, his vision blurring.
Kin frowns. "Corbett....? Should I go get the nurse...?"
"D-Don't!...Don't.." he rasps. His breathing gets thinner.
Kin gently touches his shoulder. "But....you seem sick..."
Corbett narrows his eyes, "This is your fault...this is all your fault!" He closes his eyes again, leaning into the corner of the walls.
Kin scowls. "Now how is this my fault?!"
Corbett winces, "The crystal..."
Kin's eyes widen. "You're tellin me because you don't have that dumb crystal you're getting sick???"
Corbett shudders slightly, closing his eyes tighter. "Dying," he murmurs vaguely.
Kin shakes her head. "You're not dying!!! You're just lying to me to try to get the crystal back....."
Corbett doesn't answer, he leans over, one hand catching onto the wall to hold his convulsing body. He coughs, over and over again. Crimson stains the pavement.
Kin's eyes tear up, and she turns away. "Stop.....stop it..."
Corbett doesn't even seem to be listening. He lifts his head, not bothering to wipe the crimson from his lips. He leans on the wall.
Kin turns around. "Cummon, Corbett..we'll go get that stupid crystal...."
Corbett raises his head, looking at her through clouded, angry eyes, "Why should I....why should I trust you..."
Kin wipes away a tear. "Because, I'm the only person who can help you right now. Alright? lt's at my house...."
Corbett leans over, his body shaking. A pain wrenches within his chest, causing him to cry out. He clenches his jaw, "A...alright....alright..."
Kin walks to him, taking his arm and slinging it around her neck. "Can you walk alright?"
Corbett pulls his arm away, "I got here, didn't I...." he murmurs.
Kin scowls at him. "I'm trying to help you, Corbett......"
Corbett growls slightly, "Let's just go..."
Kin nods, starting out at a fast pace in anger.
Corbett follows, though more slowly, for obvious reasons.
Kin slowly finally, stopping for a moment to wait for Corbett.
Corbett catches up to her after a moment of pause. He's hiding his pain fairly well, walking with the same elegance as ever.
Kin scowls at him. "It's a ways from here."
Corbett frowns at her, his eyes slits, "So why are you stopping?"
"So you can catch up, smarty. I don't have to give it back to you, so can you be slightly grateful?"
Corbett smiles sickly, "So I'll die. What have I to lose? But you'll live with the guilt...I know your type."
Kin growls. "I can live with guilt if I need to. And if you have nothing to loose, then why did you want it back so bad when I took it?"
Corbett laughs, "Panic. Surely I'm not so gone I can't fear."
Kin frowns. "You seem pretty far gone to me....maybe I can pull you back up."
Corbett narrows his eyes, "Shut your damn mouth."
Kin blinks. "Why does that make you mad...?"
Corbett says nothing, merely continues to walk.
Kin follows him. "Tell me..."
Corbett growls, "I don't want to be pulled back."
Kin frowns. "Why not?"
Corbett looks at her, "You think I want to be back there again..."
Kin sighs. "Just because you're coming back up, doesn't mean you'll end up where you started.."
Corbett growls, "Leave me be."
Kin shakes her head, smirking slightly. "I won't. You'll just have to deal with it." She keeps walking, turning onto a path that leads into a large wooded area.
Corbett follows, silent.
Soon the path opens to a big open field, and a relatively large house sits on it. "Almost there....."
Corbett, still, says nothing.
Kin continues on until they reach the front door, which she pushes open. "Come in...."
Corbett follows, stopping briefly to wipe his feet. Force of habit.
Kin blinks, watching him with a slightly amused smile. "Follow me..." She begins to walk up a long, winding stairway.
Corbett glares at her as she smiles, but follows.
They reach the top of the stairs, and she leads him into a large room at the left. Things are scattered all about the floor, a large sign on the door reads 'No maids'. She walks...or rather jumps over all the various objects, to a desk at the far end. "Sorry, it's a bit messy."
Corbett scowls at the mess, "How can you live like this...?"
Kin blinks. "You mean how do I live through this? Every time I get outta bed I practically fall to my death. But I'm content with it..."
Corbett sighs, "I'm in no mood for jokes. Just give me the crystal..." He appears to be feeling better, as he's closer to the crystal.
Kin digs about in the desk for a moment, then turns, jumping up onto the tall four-poster bed. "I lost it."
Corbett's eyes widen, "YOU WHAT?!?!"
Kin looks at him, a small smile on her face. "You said you didn't care."
Corbett pulls in a long breath, composing himself, "You little bitch..."
Kin gives a small bow of her head. "Thanks. You want it back or not?"
Corbett hisses, "Give it to me now."
Kin holds up the crystal in her right hand, looking at it. "It really is nice....."
Corbett clenches his fists, black energy flaring about his fists, "Kin..."
Kin blinks, her eyes widening. "Uh uhn...not in the house....."
Corbett narrows his eyes, the energy growing darker.
Kin jumps up, running over to a window and throwing it open. She sits on the ledge, her hand with the crystal out the window. "I'll drop it."
Corbett is shaking visibly with rage.
Kin swallows. "Calm down....."
The dark energy is growing more vibrant still. He closes his eyes.
Kin's fingers clutch the crystal. "You shoot, I fall and die. You won't be able to pry this stupid thing from my fingers.....let’s just go outside, and I'll give you the stupid thing, alright?"
When Corbett's eyes open, the pupils and iris are completely gone, the eye solid white. His expression makes it clear he won't be making any deals.
Kin tenses, getting ready to do something rather surprising...jump out the window.
Corbett's eyes narrow. He lunges at her with speed far surpassing his own, attempting to pin her wrists to the wall. His grip is strong. Nothing like that his feeble body should posses.
Kin flips out the window, her hand gripping a peice of rope that wasn't visible before. But Corbett had caught one of her wrists, and she yelps, her feet kicking at the side of the house. "Let go of me!!!"
Corbett lifts her up, applying pressure to the wrist he holds. Threatening to snap it. He looks at her with dead eyes.
Kin screams, suddenly thrusting her head forward and trying to bite his hand.
Corbett doesn't move as she digs her teeth into his flesh, nor as thick blood runs down his hand. He applies more pressure onto her wrist, snapping it.
Kin's eyes fill with tears as her wrist is broken, and she screams loudly. "Help me!!!! Someone!!! Corbett.....please stop....."
Corbett takes the dark crystal from her hand, slipping it safely into his pocket. He leans forward, holding her further out the window, "Give me one reason..." his voice is cold, "Just one reason I shouldn't let you go."
Kin closes her eyes. "B-because...you're not a bad person......"
Corbett smiles, "Not good enough, I'm afraid." He lowers her a little, "Goodbye."
Kin lets out a choking sob. "Please Corbett!!! Don't do this!! I dunno what's happening....but you're just making your life more of a hell!! You can fix it.....please don't......"
Corbett tightens his grip on her wrist, watching with slight amusement as her bone drives up through the skin. "My life...couldn’t possible be more of a hell."
Kin yelps. "Wanna bet??? You think dropping me will make it all better, eh Corbett?? Drop me if you want, I don't care anymore, and if you do, I hope you die a painful death, and that not one single soul mourns for you!" She spits at his face.
Corbett moves his head to the side, "You death won't make it better...but it won't make it worse. As for them mourning for me...? Why should I care..."
Kin closes her eyes. "Then drop me.....you know, if you died I'd feel sad.....you need friends, Corbett. You need them so bad....."
Corbett's eyes flicker and he shakes his head, as if to clear it. He's shivering slightly, "I don't need anyone..." His grip slowly loosens on her wrist, not yet letting her fall.
Kin's body relaxes, becoming more limp. "That's not true...you need a friend...and I've offered...so many times.....and now I'll just die...right? I'll just die and you'll be alone again."
Corbett's grip loosens, hardly holding her. "I don't need anyone...." he repeats.
Kin lets out a small sob. "When you drop me, you won't have anyone. Good bye Corbett, sorry I couldn't help you out more."
Corbett closes his eyes, shaking all over. When his eyes open again, signs of color are beginning to fill them. With a cruel jerk he pulls her back inside, throwing her to the ground, then disappears in a blur of black. ((I love teleportation... ^^))
Kin lies on the ground, her eyes filled with tears. She grips her wrist tightly, a weak smile spreading over her lips. "I better bandage this..mom'll kill me if I get blood on the carpet...." She stands up a bit shakily, leaving the room.

Kin walks from the building, same as the day before, though now she has a cast about her left wrist.
Corbett is seated on the pavement, leaning back against the empty bike racks. School has been out for a good twenty minutes, meaning, all students have cleared out, and all that's left is the faculty cars dotting the parking lot.
Kin sees Corbett, actually smiling. "Hi Corbett. Doing better today, I suppose?"
Corbett raises his eyes to her, "Stay away from me..." then he looks the other direction.
Kin hms. "I already told you I wouldn't."
Corbett shudders, "What do you want from me..."
Kin frowns. "Your friendship, in case you haven't figured that out yet....plus, I want to help you."
"Why..."
Kin sighs. "Does it matter.....?"
Corbett is silent for a moment, "It matters."
Kin nods. "Because, I pity you. You need someone..plus, once I've tried, I don't want to stop until I've succeeded."
Corbett growls, "Just stop it..."
Kin shakes her head. "I won't...."
Corbett looks down, his fingers feeling the cloth of his bag.
Kin frowns. "Why won't you just give in...eh? Why not...?"
Corbett glares up at her, "Because you're my enemy..."
Kin blinks. "Now how on earth did I manage to become your enemy?"
Corbett growls, "You're all my enemy..."
Kin shakes her head. "Your enemy is someone trying to hurt you.....do you honestly think that's what I'm trying to do?"
Corbett growls, "You hurt me...you stole my crystal..."
Kin scowls. "Oh my god, I stole your precious crystal! I wasn't directly trying to hurt you. And what about me?! You freaking broke my wrist, yet I don't hate your guts!! You've burnt me, practically tossed me out a window, slammed me into walls, yet I don't hate you. And what do I do? Take your crystal. And you hated me even before that, for no reason at all!" ((end rant here ^^*))
Corbett eyes her, "I have a reason...you’re human. "
Kin shakes her head. "And so are you...or so I thought...but maybe not. Maybe you're just a monster who's taken over the real Corbett's feelings. Because I know that Corbett, whether that is who you really are or not, is a good person....."
Corbett scowls, looking down.
Kin sighs heavily. "Please Corbett...you need a friend...even if you don't think so....."
Corbett glares at her, "I don't want a friend..."
Kin closes her eyes. "I don't care. You need a friend."
"Stay away from me..." he says shakily.
Kin looks at him. "Why? I'm not doing anything to you....unless I'm convincing you that I'm right.....is that why you want me to stay away? Because you're afraid?"
Corbett scowls, "I'm not afraid...not of you."
"But are you afraid of my words?"
"No."
Kin smiles slightly. "Then why should I stay away from you?"
"Because I hate you..." he murmurs.
Kin suddenly tenses. "Do you....really?"
Corbett looks up at her, beginning to speak.
Kin smiles weakly. "If you hate me....then I guess I'll just leave...I thought maybe you got really mad at me sometimes..that I bothered you...but not...that you really did hate me....."
Corbett growls, "Then just go!"
Kin looks down. "I have one more question. Why didn't you kill me? If you hate me so much, why didn't you just let go?"
Corbett tenses, unable to answer.
Kin swallows. "Please...I just want to know...then I won't bother you anymore...."
Corbett shivers, "I just...I just don't know..."
Kin tightens her grip on her bag, now held in front of her. "Alright...well, bye Corbett. Hope everything turns out good for you...." She turns around, beginning to walk away.
Corbett looks down, wincing.
Kin continues to leave, giving him a small wave without turning around.
Corbett feels a weight dampen his eyelash, then trickle down his cheek. A tear. He wipes it away impatiently.
Kin finally disappears down the road, on the way to her house.
