By HaveMusic
1) get paint shop pro and the palettes 16.pal and win.pal here
2) find ntoskrnl.exe (should be in \windows\system32\) make a backup
3) open in reshacker (you should have this if you have been modding your logon screen)
4) extract bmp 1 open in paintshop pro load palette 16.pal (also make sure maintain indexes is checked )
5) picture should appear for editing (edit til your heart is content)
6) Now load palette win32.pal (again make sure maintain index is checked ) picture should turn black again. save picture as 1.bmp
7) replace image with reshacker.
8) save ntoskernl.exe and boot into safe mode command prompt and replace file in \windows\system32\
9) reboot system, your new new bootlogo should appear..

The bitmaps present in the ntoskrnl.exe file
1.For the background of the bootup screen
8.For the progress bar
10.For the text "Professional"
11.For the text "Home"
12.For the text "Embedded" (Hey do you have embedded XP??)
You can use the following switch in boot.ini instead of replacing the ntoskrnl.exe
Move or copy your modified ntoskrnl.exe to the system32 directory
In the boot.ini file that you find in c:\, at the end of the line corresponding to WindowsXP add this
/kernel= yourBootExe.exe
So it would look something like this if your XP is installed to d:\windows
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /kernel=yourBootExe.EXE
