Soundtrack for the movie "HEAVEN & EARTH" directed by Oliver Stone. Musically this is not usual album by KITARO-san. Actually on this album, there are good impressive melodies of typical KITARO-san. But mostly they are fragmentary. So that almost of all the melodies don't expand and don't unfold into dramatic long song, unlike KITARO-san does usually. As a result, the number of strong or impressive song are few. Even though there are a little bit of typical arrangement of KITARO Music of this period, but many parts are performed by orchestra instead of KITARO-san himself (this current is never happened in KITARO-san's usual albums). Also some songs are not composed by KITARO-san himself (composers of both "SAU DAU TREE" and "PLEASE COME VISIT MY VILLAGE OF HOA QUI" include Le Ly Hayslip who is the living model of this movie's starring role, and "TRONG COM" is a traditional folk song of Vietnam where the story of this movie mainly took place). Having these aspects, "KITARO-san's typical flow represented through an album" is obviously weak (even though there is "flow") and this album is having the impression of "soundtrack" more than of "KITARO-san's album".

This is NOT the very first KITARO album for those who is new to KITARO Music. This is rather an album for KITARO Music's enthusiast. But remember that this album contains some of KITARO-san's best melodies on "HEAVEN AND EARTH (LAND THEME)", "AHN & LE LY LOVE THEME", "RETURN TO VIETNAM", and "END TITLE".

KITARO-san performs the song "HEAVEN AND EARTH" live very often since this album's release. Without doubt, this song is one of KITARO-san's live favourites. But basically live version is based on "HEAVEN AND EARTH (LAND THEME)" and "END TITLE" and also contains the phrase of "ARVN", "VILLAGE ATTACK/THE ARREST", etc. etc. So if you like "HEAVEN AND EARTH" in KITARO-san's live show, you better listen to the live album AN ENCHANTED EVENING instead of this HEAVEN & EARTH album.
