The 4th original soundtrack album for Japanese TV program "SILK ROAD", and this is the last "SILK RAOD" TV related album. More than 50% of this album sounds like improvisation, and this aspect makes this album's atmosphere closer to albums before TUNHUANG more than previous two albums QUEEN MILLENNIA and KI. But actually the musical direction of this album is closer to the next album SILVER CLOUD, and the aspect of containing the so pop-type of tune like "CARAVANSARY" (which is one of the most important repertoire of KITARO-san and still performed in his live show) gives the impression that "This is KITARO Music after the era of KI and QUEEN MILLENNIA.
In KITARO-san's whole studio recording albums until this album, "MOON-STAR" was the very first tune which has both symphonic rock-type of dramatic arrangement and the wide range of dymanism, both of which can be heard usually in KITARO-san's live show. In the albums after next SILVER CLOUD album until GAIA - ONBASHIRA album, KITARO-san uses this symphonic rock-type of dramatic arrangement in the right moment in "KITARO-san's typical flow represented through an album". This means that obviously this album belongs to the period when musically KITARO-san was stepping out from his "Silk Road" era.
Even though this album has some interesting songs, but the number of impressive songs is too few. Except in case you want to listen to the original verion of "CARAVANSARY", there is no need to hurry up to pick up this album early. Those who like SILVER CLOUD album probably like this, too.
