brow
basics
It completely changes your look. And when it comes to plucking it's more than a
matter of pruning; it takes the right tools and careful measurement to get it
right. Before you get started, give yourself a trim. Use a round brow brush or
clean mascara wand to sweep brow hair up above the brow line, then trim any long
hairs with brow scissors. Brush brow hairs down and repeat, trimming any hairs
that fall below the arch.
step
one
Locate your inner brow edge with a brow pencil. Lay the pencil vertically along
the right side of your nose; where it hits your brow is where the inside
starting point of your right brow should be. Mark this spot with the pencil and
repeat the procedure with your left brow. Then, locate the outer brow edge. Hold
the bottom of the pencil at the center of your bottom lip, letting the top of
the pencil slant out to the outside edge of your right eye. Where the inside
edge of the pencil hits is where your brow should end. Mark this spot with the
pencil and do the same with your left brow.
step
two
Now, pinpoint your arch with the brow pencil. Hold the base of the pencil at the
center of your bottom lip again, but this time slant it out until the inside
edge lies just along the outside edge of your iris (the colored part of your
eye). The highest point of the arch should be where the inside edge of the
pencil meets your eyebrow. Using a brow liner or some brow powder, lightly
sketch in your ideal eyebrow shape based on all of these measuring points. Take
a white pencil and mark any stray brow hairs that fall outside the determined
shape.
step
three
It's time to tweeze. Sit in front of as large a mirror as you can find, near a
window so that you can work in natural light. Sterilize the tweezers with
rubbing alcohol before using them; one by one, tweeze any stray hairs that
you've covered in white pencil or concealer. Be sure to pull hairs out in the
direction of hair growth.

fuller
and in fashion
Now that pencil-thin arches are trending out, brows that are a bit bigger are
suddenly better.
step
one: trim, don't
tweeze
Every hair counts, so don't get rid of any. But you do want to keep it neat.
First, brush brows straight up with a brow brush. Hold the brush over the thick
of the brow. On an angle (never straight across) trim only the strands above the
brow line. Never trim the brow's outer corners.
step
two: use a pencil
A pencil defines the brow. Choose one only a few shades darker than your skin.
Brush hairs down to expose roots. Hold the pencil at an angle; use a light,
feathering touch to create quick strokes. You're enhancing the brow, not
creating one. Brush hair back up—the pencil will blend in.
step
three: apply powder
This is where you add fullness by filling in a sparse brow. Lightly dab on a
matching powder in the center of the brow with a stiff brush and blend for a
more natural appearance. Then finish the look with a gel, to hold hairs in
place.
